There's a certain level of absurdity in the game that sometimes feels unintentional and other times makes me say "Oh yeah, the developer totally knew what they were doing" and it always works. The objective of the game is to, hence the title, search for Fran. The second the game opens you're immediately dropped into the world, no loading screen, no opening credits, no menu, no wait. I would argue that the lack of settings was a poor choice because it didn't run well on my laptop, but on a PC it probably runs smoother. You can choose to follow the "quests" in order to find Fran, or just do what I did and run around the map until I found her. My favorite moment was when I stumbled upon a woman walking into a tree and observed out of sheer ridiculousness. When I was ready to move on I instantly found another tree, this one with FIVE PEOPLE WALKING INTO IT AT ONCE. Like the first time, I stood there once again and observed for two minutes or so before moving on and continuing my trek.
Featuring other unforgettable sights such as a spaceship, a dog in a baseball field, a car crash Fran may or may not've caused and multiple empty playgrounds to creep around in, The Search for Fran is a comedy masterpiece that I would recommend to anybody who has ever laughed or just wanted to use up the last dollar in their Steam wallet.
