Microsoft Account

The store says that a Microsoft Account is required. How does the activation process work in that case? I download the game, launch it, and does a window appear where I have to sign in to a Microsoft account, or can this be skipped? I have Windows 11 on a local account, without a Microsoft account.

Yes thats how it works, you need a Microsoft account to play
I think you might be able to use a mojang account tho

Thanks. Is it connected to the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store?
Just please tell me what the next steps are after I download the game on Steam.

Yeah it uses whatever account your signed in to on the xbox app!
