I think it would be funnier if it ended up being critically acclaimed and a box office success. Slim chance, but not impossible given that you can't really judge a movie by it's trailer.
You have a trashy cash-grab Minecraft Movie trailer, where you already know the entire movie since there was 0-creativity in the story, looks like a mobile game add, with humor that has been done many times before and isnt even funny, and is clearly very cheap.
(both trailers releasing a week from each other really shows the best and the worse of game movies)
Hopefully the same thing that happens here happened with Sonic the Hedgehog one where the trailer looked garbage and everyone hated how sonic looked.
Also, it should just be fully animated. The actors look out of place and are really probably just there so you see their faces. Not to mention, they also look like they just copied / pasted videos of them into the CG with almost 0 lighting interaction whatsoever.
And this is just my opinion - I think something from the world of Minecraft: Story Mode would have been nice.
If they did pull a "Sonic Fix", then what would that be? For Sonic 1, it was pretty obviously the main character design, fix one character and everything else falls into place. Not that it was effortless or anything, but there was one point to focus all the changes on.
I don't think the Minecraft community has agreed on what the "fix" would be. The mob designs being ugly, the world design looking like a Mobile Game, the story being just Jumanji Reboot, the main characters being live action instead of animated? All of them are issues, but fixing just one wont fix the whole thing.
