DELTARUNE

DELTARUNE

Should I wait to play Deltarune after release? (Serious Question)
I see that the Deltarune fanbase is imploding and it is funny to see, but if I may ask a question since even though I am not part of the "Deltarune tomorrow" party, I feel like "Deltarune Soon".

Anyways, as the title asks, as a legitimate question: Should I wait to play Deltarune after it releases, or play on release?

My main arguments for both are:

For playing on release:
I play Deltarune on release
I finally play a game that's popular that doesn't die out once I finally play it
I (probably) won't get spoiled on anything.

But for waiting:
I get info the the Secret Bosses
I don't have to replay the chapters after beating them to get to said bosses.

Replaying the Chapters to play missed content is a cool way to see different instances of foreshadowing with your newfound hindsight. That's my argument for playing on release: fully blind and natural experiences are more fun, especially if you find 1 or both of the Hidden Bosses naturally.

Besides, there's gonna be like a million guides available 3 days after release, so you can do a mix of both: play the Chapters blindly until you reach the Final Boss points, and if you can't find clues for the Hidden Boss side quests on your own, look up spoiler-free guides to steer yourself in the right direction until you can do stuff on your own!
At the end of the day, Deltarune isn't too long a game as it is now. The individual chapters won't take too long either. Replaying them once will be a cool way of re-contextualising things anyway.

So yeah, I say play on release. It will be near-impossible to avoid spoilers unless you've searched up absolutely NOTHING related to Deltarune or Undertale.

play it on realease or you will never play it ever again
From my experience, I learned that Chapter 2 had dropped from all the Snowgrave memes [aka the biggest spoiler in the game at the time, IMO] in the week it released. Because I was playing it on Switch, though, I had to wait a week to actually experience the chapter. In that one week, I got spoiled on: Spamton, the Spamton NEO fight, the afforementioned Snowgrave Route, etc. Granted, I shielded myself pretty well from the spoilers enough that they moreso excited me more than anything, and since I was a stupid teenager who missed dialogue, it helped me realise how to get the NEO fight by actually going to the damn trash zone like Spamton tells you to.

In conclusion, if you are online a lot [regardless if they're DR spaces, they will find you regardless] and care about spoilers other than the secret bosses, I'd say play it when it comes out. However, if you genuinely don't mind spoilers and want a perfect save with all the shadow crystals and eggs you could ever need first try, then all you have to really do is wait a week. Hell, I was busy with school when DR chapter 2 came out and only started playing it in mid October; waiting should be fine, but it's up to you.
