hell, id even call it a sequel

not because its a direct continuation of its story (because it isnt), but because deltarune keeps some important elements from undertale, so you might understand more things and get more references

even outside of that, id still heavily recommend experiencing undertale. its a beast at hitting you with emotions, and making you laugh

oh, and try to avoid spoilers/backseating
the game will usually tell you how to do certain things, you just have to pay attention

Elements of the game were like, and seemed to draw inspiration from, Secret of Evermore.

ENDACOPIA seems to fit, judging by the demo. Pixely, adventury, darky-secrety among cartoony cutesy.

Yes, Deltarune so heavily refers Undertale, including a few occasions of in-character references, that just playing chapter 1 of Deltarune will heavily spoil Undertale.
