A Question and Some Feedback
First, I love the look and feel of the game and am excited to see where it goes in terms of development. That said, I got stuck only a few minutes into the demo and am unable to progress.

The problem is that to craft tools we need what appear to be wooden planks, but where am I supposed to get those? I've harvested every patch of grass and picked up every pile of sticks and stones. I've run around with the dog and gotten some good stuff, including what appears to be metal scraps, from him, so I guess I just have to wait and hope he digs up some planks?

Crafting in general is a little confusing/frustrating. It would help a lot if item names/descriptions were shown when you mouse-over ingredients, as it isn't always immediately clear what each required ingredient even is.

It's also a little frustrating that to look at an item description you have to select it, but by selecting it the game automatically starts to craft it. You have to hold down the button to complete crafting, yes, but a) it only takes a second and could easily be done by mistake and b) it's just annoying that it begins crafting when all you want to do is see what an item is/read what ingredients are required to craft it.

The crafting problem could be easily sorted by using a different button to craft. In general, I think more buttons/actions could be used to make gameplay more smooth and intuitive. After only a minute or two I ended up leaving my horse off to the side because if it was near me the game would have me auto-mount instead of harvesting the grass/sticks/stones I had intended to grab. This could be solved instantly by mounting the horse with left-click, or harvesting with left-click, or binding one of those actions to 'E' or something along those lines.

Anyway, as I said, I'm excited to see the game and looking forward to being able to play more! Cheers.

Devs?

Based on my experience with the game, you've posted a broken demo in Steam's Next Fest. Not a great look to also ignore the forums and feedback.

I completely agree with you, visually it looks nice but like you said about 5 minutes into the demo it gives all of these objectives but no way of getting the required items to build i.e planks. Hopefully the devs will sort it otherwise its a no from me.

I believe, from the brief few minutes I played, you craft planks from logs, which you get from chopping up the fallen trees on the ground.

Problem is I couldn't get that far before they held my game to ransom by not allowing me to craft anything more until I added the game to my wishlist (Craft button replaced with "add to wishlist" button), which I feel is a really rude and underhanded way to make me do that. I ain't about to add a game that I've barely had a few minutes with before you're gatekeeping me with adding to my wishlist. Terrible practice. From your experience here, seems like the devs are kinda dodgy.

I completely agree about the wishlisting thing.

As far as the planks go, though, you need planks to make the axe to be able to chop the wood to make the planks so . . . ?

To chop the fallen trees, the ones on the ground, you need a Stone Axe. It requires grass rope, stones, and sticks. Chopping fallen trees will give Tree Trunks, then those can be used to make Wood Boards, which can be used to make the next axe, Iron Axe. Iron Axe can cut the standing trees.

That was my impression too, but I haven't played again since the first session when I hit that wall, so maybe there are two different axe recipes and you and I are looking at the second one or something? Idk.

It does appear a couple of people have been able to play more of the game, so I'm starting to think I must have been missing something. I'll try to play again in the next few days and see if I can figure it out.

Hi! I was stuck at the exact same place as you, just a few min in. There is indeed two different axe recipes! So you need to make the one the requires 3 grass rope, 5 stone and 10 twigs first! :)
Hope this helps.

I walked away from the demo for a bit so I only now saw your response. Thank you for the tip -- that helps tremendously. Cheers.
