How to change language in Stronghold Crusader Extreme HD

go to Stronghold folder in steam, right click and properties in Stronghold.exe, compatibility tab, turn on enable run mode in windows 98/ windows Me, join the game and change to your native resolution ! :)

So I got my version working. I was able to use the function alt-tab in order to tab between other open software. When tabbing back to Crusader, a glimpse of the game would appear on screen for a split second. Because of this, I was able to go into the game and change the game's video resolution in the settings menu (click on the key symbol>video options>resolution.) Make sure that this resolution matches that of your computer. Be sure to click apply when the settings are the same and hopefully it works. Best of luck and happy crusading.

i had a similar problem when stronghold crusader and stronghold were changed to HD versions by steam, all my30 other games worked without problems and i tried everything and ended up swapping my VGA and sound leads to a DVI cable because i am using a 40 inch flat screen as a monitor and the HD versions use a resolution that isn't supported by my television.
hope this helps

The links are not up to date. I was able to fix it by changing the crusader.cfg wit the hexeditor HxD, suggested by Torin68 from this post:

https://www.gog.com/forum/stronghold_series/is_there_a_way_to_change_resolution_outside_the_game

"
The selected resolution seems to be stored as binary data (as opposed to text data) in C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Stronghold Crusader\crusader.cfg at offset 0x12b. This is a Win7-64bit system.

My initial resolution was 1366x768 (my displays native max) and that location contained 1
Changing resolution in-game to 800x600 (my displays native min) changed that to 5

Try hex-editing this to 5. If you don't have a hex editor already, give HxD a try.
"
You can go to the position by pressing clrt+g and typing "12B", then change the value in the decoded text on the right to 5 and save the file.
