Negotiate Freedom?
How the hell are you supposed to negotiate your freedom after becoming a vassal?

Because the last two times I've become somebody's vassal, it seems like they automatically keep wracking up a negative reputation towards me, and since I can't forcefully rebel against them, I'm pretty much stuck as their vassal for the rest of the game.

Even declaring friendship with them doesn't seem to boost me enough to get in their good graces.

You gift them gold, many times. Press negotiate then look for the button to gift them gold (could do mana I think?). Each gift requires some amount that has a slightly random element to it (I've seen roughly gifts between 140-160 gold) for 50 rep.

This is how I got that achievement where you have to free yourself from being a vassal. I stored up a lot of gold, then hammered that gift button over and over until I hit the necessary rep for him to accept freeing me.

I haven't been a vassal yet, are you saying you can't actually rebel as in attack them, like the game doesn't let you? That would be very silly.

Correct, the game does not let you attack or declare war upon your overlord once you become a vassal. You have to negotiate your freedom first, which costs a whopping 600 positive relations before the option becomes available.

Yeah, this method seemed to work. Managed to get the achievement, thanks.
