I would also like to ask this question. The winged transformations claim they give your units flying, yet my armies still seem to prefer running around on foot.
Turning them into Demons and Angels doesn't seem to impact their ability to travel across difficult terrain either, unless I just wasn't paying close enough attention.
So like, Phantasm Warriors will get on a boat. Demonkin? Get on the boat. Angelize? Get on the boat. Mystic Projections? Get on the boat. Lesser Snow Spirits? What's a boat?
That being said, it seems that's not actually something the game accounts for, which I find slightly unfortunate but not such that it'll hurt my enjoyment.
But magic! Elementals and the like never need to rest. Otherwise, good points all around.
It feels to me like they severely dismantled the movement in this game.
In previous games there was actually a difference.
Like:
- does this unit fly natively? yes? fly you fool!
- it is using an extra but normally stays on land like additional angel wings? boat off
- is anyone in the army to whom the second applies? we boat all together - no one left behind!
