Now we know that the hero can be customized, also in height, separately from the units so this might be what happened here but I would need to check the prior streams.
In one particular screen cap (which I can't find anymore, despite trying to look for it), there is what appears to be an elven hero, who is just looming over a batch of soldiers standing right next to them.
At first, I thought they were under the effects of Super Growth, but now I'm not so sure.
Right. Especially since the hero/leader will likely look a lot like units from a distance. You want them to be instantly recognizable.
They're not blessed by the gods, they ARE the gods. That's why they're called 'Godir' and why their goal is to ascend as members of the pantheon.
Before they were banished, some, if not all of the Wizard Kings were also likewise revered as deities. Both Yaka and Artica being examples which immediately come to mind.
To be perfectly honest, I don't know. The lore about the current setting mentions "the return" of the Godir. But then again, the wizard kings weren't originally born super powerful wizards, as far as I'm aware.
It's possible that with their return and the resurgence of a new Age of Wonders, that other people may have found themselves endowed with amazing power as well.
This discussion is about heroes not Godirs or faction leaders. Heroes are the generals or overlords who are the main extensions of the Godir’s power. You screw up the lore when you start calling the heroes the Godirs.
Damn it, keeping them separate gets confusing. I use Heroes and Leaders interchangeably, because they are functionally the same thing. The only difference between the two is that 'Leaders' respawn after death, where as 'Heroes' don't.
