Two questions and one demand:
Will Archon race be back? Will dead Archons be back?

Will you still be able to mind control units and if they are still under your control at battle end they join you? Loved the diversity of units you could have by using that!

Bring back my namesake unit (and have ability to mind control it to capture it) or else!!!!! Same with the Angels.

Okay, I never played AoW 2, so maybe there's something that I missed out on, but what the heck is everyone's deal with Archons?

Why are they so popular?

If I understand the lore correctly, they're just the remnants of what became of the High Men. A faction who was barely present in the first game until near the end of the campaign, and in AoW 3, they were an independent faction like Nagas, Giants and Dragons.

They were just a cool race to play, or to capture units from (Like Titans - the tankiest of tanks in the game imo)
I enjoyed playing them, but don't remember all the reasons now. I was disappointed when they were gone in 3, but the dead archons were kind of fun to capture and use as well.(needed the life spell to take away their corruption influence though.)
And yes they were independent like the ones you mentioned, all who were also fun to add to your own races army.

I would be fine with them being independent and not playable.

Archons are High Men. High Men are Archons. They just changed the name between one and two for artistic reasons. That said, they played a large role in the backstory of the first game and are a big factor behind many of the conflicts in the setting. Good vs Evil, Human vs Elf. Living vs Dead.

I hope not, it completely breaks balance.

If no mistaken Archon already canonically become corrupted by the time of AOE3.
No more holy looking Archon, unless this is a prequel

I would be fine if they gave the option to turn it off for those who don't like it.

It broke up the repetitive nature of having all your armies have the same troops in them with nothing unique, and to me it was one of the best parts of the game. Maybe it could be turned down a bit though if there is a balance issue.
I don't think there was though because you ended up paying way more in upkeep cost for them than your own troops. For that reason I only used it for T3 or 4 troops.

Yes, I think you are right. Oh well... I will always have good memories playing them.

Most Archons kinda left with WK through the Shadowgates... So what we had in AoW3 are remnants of their civilisation that got corrupted. Anyway we got HIGH culture. Combine it with humanlike and here they are

It's been confirmed we can stack minor transformations with each other, such as Steelskin and Wightborn together.

Maybe you can stack Supergrowth with Angelize and turn your people into a bunch of giant angels.

I can't remember details, but I did see somewhere that there is a possibility of converting "routed" units, i.e. convincing them that it would be better to join you than to die at your hands lol. Not sure if there are other mind-control abilities beside this, but I do like this idea. Although I like being able to convert other units, especially with all the cool and diverse "toy" units you can find in a game like AoW, I feel that it was a little overpowered, exploitable, and a little too common in AoW3, where bards convert, succubi convert, nymphs convert, evangelists convert, mermaids and sirens convert, and all Theocrat and Rogue heroes could eventually convert. I mean, I did a lot of converting... but I felt like I overdid it :D

Sure, and once you got T3/T4 tier troops converted in the very beginning the rest of the map becomes snoozefeast repaint even on highest difficulty. It snowballs way too fast.

Yes, it probably was a little overpowered and could be turned down a bit.
I used the Eldrich Horror unit to do my converting (Domination), and would grab Chthonic Guardians, and those Warlord class tank units at ever opportunity.

Thanks for the info. Any way that you can grab some enemy units that you don't have access to any other way would be fine with me.

Had to get to level 4 units myself to get the Eldrich Horror, so there was no issue of early game route using it. Also don't see how you could pay for the units if you hadn't advanced to level 4 yourself.
I think some people played with Mods and now can't remember what was the mods and what was the game with some things.
The game did a pretty good job controlling you financially from cheesing it up, which is why you saw so many questions on forums about how to use cheat code to get more gold etc. Now those people complain how easy it was? lol

Also I probably play differently than most, and control myself if there is some kind of cheese that I detect in the game, well because I am not a child.

Never played with mods. It is obvious that all you should build is economy and never waste resources on 1-2 tiers beyond the start.

You are still too young since you are thinking that ageistic insults such as "child" count as arguments.

I guess. High men being Archons, except with a completely different roster of units. Maybe I can pretend a swordsman or cavalry unit is a Titan.

People being terrible at the game is a bad excuse for broken mechanic, you know.
