Planetfall had east/west wraparound. However, I suspect that isn't what Gandalf here wants to talk about.

It might not be, but it does make me wonder: east-west wraparound is fairly common in the 4X genre, and some RPGs have had the world wrap around both east-west and north-south, but I can't think of any 4X games that have done the latter, and none of either that implemented longitude-based pole traversal (leaving to the 'north' brings you back in at the matching 'north' on what would be the other side of the planet).

Some custom maps for the Dominions series work like that, but that works with provinces that you can manually set connections for. Can't really be done with a grid-based map without getting very silly.

Well, it's not about east or west, that sort of binary stuff is no longer accepted. I see geography more as a spectrum.

I think it's important to address insanity whenever we can, don't you?

I mean wherever something easily observable is denied to promote an ideology there should be debate, especially if a medium promotes such things as true.

So, let's address the elephant in the room, will AoW 4 have a flat earth option?

It is a game. A technical product. It is made by other humans. Naturally, it has limitations due to the fact that one human can't implement all possible freedoms all other humans might want. You are free to express yoursefl within the framework provided by the game.
