Patch Notes - Demo version 0.4.0

Hello everyone!

It's been a while, but we've been hard at work behind the scenes and...

today, we are excited to publish a sneak peek in this new 0.4.0 version of our demo!

In this version, you'll get the chance to try some of Celina's skills from later in the game and test them against "Elfarin", a new boss living in a region called "Living Nightmares".

Returning players with a completed demo save file can teleport in Elfarin's location from your existing save slots and jump right into the new fight immediately, or you may choose to start a new game to brush up your skills in advance of this challenging fight.

We've also just launched our official Discord server! We'd love for you to join our community (a link will be inside the demo and at the bottom of this announcement)!

Now, to the release notes...

A new boss awaits you at the end of the demo!
You'll get to test multiple of Celina's skills in that fight (so... new skills)
Completely redesigned the platforming section of the right side of the room leading to the staircase before the first boss fight, it now includes new game mechanics that feel more appropriate for the start of the game.
Graphics enhancements.
Music enhancements.
As with every big update, there might be some new, undiscovered bugs. If you find one, please report it on our new Discord—you'll be a huge help!

Very impressive demo, here's some feedback

I must say this game is impressive so far, you’ve really nailed the graphics and atmosphere. The core gameplay is very good as well and the controls are nice and responsive. For a precision action platformer like this I prefer the digital pad on a controller and it worked perfectly here. My feedback will therefore be mostly on the qol and player communication side of things. - Try to communicate better to the player the mechanics of the world. The aura was an interesting mechanic but it was very obtuse ...

Patch Notes - Demo version 0.3.0

Hello everyone!

It's the Next Fest already, amazing how time flies!

With it, as promised, we've released the updated Astra: Fading Stars demo (v0.3.0) to properly celebrate the event.

First, we want to thank you all for your feedback, support and play-testing, we've come a long way since the original 0.1.x versions and it wouldn't have been possible without you!

We also want to welcome all the new players and encourage everyone, who's already played any of the previous versions, to checkout out this update too as it finally includes story elements!

Now, without further ado - here are the patch notes for v0.3.0:

Main story line is now integrated in the demo. You'll get to know things from Celina's (the main character) background, the villains of the game your role and your main purpose in the game.
NPC character providing optional hints and advise during your journey in the Astral Cave.
Cutscene from an area further in the game with a very strong story connection - no spoilers here!
One time tutorial scene on movement, fighting and jumps when playing the game for the first time - we may change this to be always playable when starting a new game (skipable of course) in a future patch.
Improved map navigation and clarity. The space layout is now more intuitive and easier to navigate.
Clearer available actions and interactions.
Graphics enhancements.
Music enhancements.
As always, a couple of bug fixes, including the one where in some rare cases the player would get a smaller hitbox and step further into the ground when changing scenes while ducking.

Patch Notes - Demo version 0.2.2

Hello everyone!

Those of you who're on the beta will have already noticed this but... for everyone else, we got some exciting news!

Attack range update!

The main pain point we've received from everyone's feedback has now been fixed and -we must admit- the combat feels a lot nicer now.

The rest

Now... to the rest of the changes of version 0.2.x.

The most notable differences you'll notice if you've tried our previous version from last year are:

Rearranged and removed some cave areas making navigation easier, signs are now also located in the cave that will provide a rough direction to the way out!
Reduced the difficulty of the battles given this is only the first area of the game
Introduced a simpler first flying enemy and removed the ranged attacker
Improved animations and graphics
Visual hints in areas where players can get stuck for a long time
Minor bug fixes

In brief, this release makes the cave feel more like a first game area than a middle one providing an easier transition to the game for the players. We've still got a long way ahead of us (spoiler 👀 - NPCs coming next with tips, hints and story references!).

Very promising but ...

The game looks nice, sounds nice and ... well, moves nice ! My only issue is with the French language. I see that you used an automatic translator and there's no problem with this for a demo. Do you intend to buy a translator for the full game ? I can help you to translate it from English to French (for free since I'm not a pro) but please do something about it or keep it in English....

I want to congratulate the development team. first time playing and the game proves to be very good for a first impression in addition to being quite challenging in terms of the achievements of the demo. by the way, what is the last achievement? hahahaha greetings from Brazil !!!...

Nice game but....another dead game...

the fitst boss the crazy dog thing. H Jump hardly makes it over the dog. The controls of the player suddenly become unresponsive during the battle. The astral call shield suddenly doesnt work when i press the button when he does the tentacles. The game went from being relaxed and nice and easy to hard and difficult at the boss battle. If the forums were 2022,2025 with no developer replies looks like a dead game...sad Second boff after passong through the fog.... his projectiles still damage you even tho...
