In this Devlog, we will be unveiling our new UI/UX direction — featuring major improvements to aesthetics, readability, and functionality. All of these menus are a work in progress and subject to change, so we’re really looking forward to hearing your feedback. Let’s take a look!

Changes to the start menu are simple yet effective; a higher contrast menu bar to improve visibility and readability, as well as some familiar motifs for decoration.

A complete overhaul of the head-up display is in effect — featuring a new health gauge, conditions, notifications, and more. The first image shows how the HUD would appear most of the time, while the second image displays all possible notifications, including multiplayer widgets 👀. Missing from this image is stamina! After gathering some feedback from the community and reviewing the stamina system, it has been decided that stamina will be replaced with a momentum system. More details on the momentum system will be shared in a future Devlog.

Aesthetics, visibility, and functionality improvements are all part of the new crafting menu. Players will be able to decide if they want to just learn the recipe (short press) or craft the recipe (long press) in one single step instead of two.

Saving the best for last, here is our biggest UI/UX change yet — the new tool wheel! Now tool selection will be front and centre when you activate it, and disappear when not in use. Your active tool will always be displayed at the bottom right of the HUD. This radial menu format will be used for other contexts as well, such as interacting with players and animals.

It’s been a while since our last demo update, so we’re excited to tell you that we’ve been busy bees working on what’s Next (*ahem*), but until then, here’s a tiny sneak peek.

Aside from our demo update, we have some more big news to share, but we’ll have to wait until June (*hint*) for that, so make sure to pin it in your calendar. 📍
