Animals still disappearing on save

I read in the 2.1.6 patch notes that a bug where animals disappeared when saving was fixed. I decided to try it and grabbed some sheep from one island and carried them to another one to fix the ecology. Then I did a save and exit and restarted the game, but the sheep were gone. The manure was still there, which is kind of funny. So I'm confused; was the bug that was fixed a different one where animals were disappearing? Or did I read it wrong? It seems kind of silly to spend time fixing the ecology if it's just going to break again when you exit the game and come back.

I believe the bug persists on old maps - You might need to create a new map to see it fixed :/

That explains it. As I understand it, I won't have to relearn all the recipes again so starting over shouldn't be too much of a problem. If not I may just take your word for it.

Old map? I dont think so. I started playing just 10 hours back. Now I wanted load my save on island with two sheeps, but they are gone, just their extcements left in there. :(

Unfortunately, not true. After the last updte I did create a new map with my old character, that had just lost all animals. I had 4 sheep on my island, when I last logged out. Logging in... all animals lost.
I enjoyed playing the demo, have more than 50 hours in, but that's just frustrating. Won't start again, just to lose everything again. I hope, you'll find a better solution, that can actually fix the problem.

yep, all my animals on the new map are gone too

and we can't use the cheat command to spawn again the animals, i lost all my animals too..

Yeah, I've made new maps, checked my old maps from a few days ago... it's like they just disappear over time or something. All of my islands are 4/0 or 2/0, etc. with no animals to be found. Whereas the one's that need to be healed are sitting at 0/1 or whatever it may be.
I finally got an island to fly! Absolutely loving it! However, now I can't start the mission of gathering animals to go heal other islands. LOL - well, it will get there :)

Since restoring the islands isn't really possible, I've started going the other way. Strip mine an island for resources, even the soil, and leave it a barren wasteland. I managed to get one island down to 0%, though it seems this isn't always possible. I have a feeling it's not what the game makers had in mind, but they should make island restoration more of a challenge and island destruction less of one. Planting trees is easy, chopping them down by the dozens takes a lot of work.

It's not too bad if you can get that swing mechanic to work... but I've still yet to figure out a consistent way to work out a click timing that will get the various tools to do the 'crit hit' or while building to get the hammer to do the whole area completion instead of just one section at a time. I have no idea what timing is doing that. I just get lucky so far. lol

Same bug here for me and my friend. He lost animals in his world (manure still there), and I just downloaded the demo, started playing yesterday, and no animals on islands he previously located them on. The book will even report animals exist on an island, but are nowhere to be found.

Can confirm this also happen to me on most recent save, and I start playing this demo just yesterday.

On my 3rd time playing the game all the sheep are gone. Ones that I've feed, carried, & transferred to other islands waiting for them to breed are gone. Including teen sheep that I didn't feed, carried or had any interactions with have also disappeared. Plus the one sheep I had on my ship island. I just started the demo on June 17th with version 0.2.1.7. Maybe they're falling through the islands as the game is loading? At the time I logged out with my Ship Island attached with stairs to an island because I was transferring them so it would be M/F on two islands. So I'm unsure if the attaching to the island also caused it. I checked all other islands in the demo, even ones I haven't been to or cleared from the corruption and I haven't seen any sheep. I've yet to tame any birds, one island says it has a "birdwhite" according to the field guide but I haven't seen it yet.

This one has been confusing me. I got to an island and it said animal amount 10. There were sheep there so I thought it was 10 sheep. I found 6 sheep, and couldn't find any other animals. There was no bird house on this island, and the sheep disappeared of course and my book said there were 2 animals.

On some islands it's listing the birds, and on other it seem to just state an animal count without listing what it is counting and you can't find them. Perhaps it's another animal that's ghosting?

I'm sure someone has already tried it, but has anyone played with infinite resources to see if the sheep come back?
