how to get insects?

i need to repair and islands eco system, it requires insects, how do i get insects?

You gather them in the wilds. If you have guide manual you can check if there insect on current island. If you don't craft it yet you can look around island, they often spawn on chopped logs, so they are not hard to find. You can find one species even at starting island.

[Pesky]

They look like red or blue balls. You find them on tree trunks or sometimes on old fallen trees. There are also worms you can find on the ground.
