Yes. I usually do a slow fly-over over an island and pay attention as well when I'm on the ground, but ... nothing?
There are still hidden chests but they are not as clearly marked as in the Emerald Isles. I have found chests in the middle of 3 pillars, some are hidden under the ruined structures, I found 1 marked by a single small white flower that just didnt look right. Sometimes they are under piles of leaves.
If anything looks out of place, try hitting it with the doorkip and a chest may just pop up. It can be annoying though as the large X or the large O ring of stones are much easier to spot consistently.
Okay so its a game of find the arrows. And you have to guess where it is.
Sounds like a Biome3/Red Desert one there are often 2 arrows on the island, and the treasure is where the 2 arrow-paths intersect. Usually 50-100m away from the arrow, on the other side of the island... so far away you cant look back at the arrow and see if you are still inline with it (the arrows disappear when you are too far away). Sadly the treasure is not quite worth the challenge by that part of the game)
In short just follow Arrow ! to the next arrow, and a bit aways from arrow 2 may be the treasure though if you have 2 or 3 levels to an island it may be on any of those layers.
Its always something build of stones. Either an X, a big circle or several arrows pointing in a direction.
For my second playthrough those chests have been vital. For some reason, my first playthrough was a 50/50 mix of infected/unhealthy, this playthrough there has been hardly any infected islands (maybe one small/medium one per sector), and the samples have been so important for progression. While I wish there were more of them, it has added a level of challenge to this playthrough. Heck, I would very much enjoy every single one being infected/unhealthy after the first sector.
