Aloft
boat anchor
Hello,

the boat anchors no longer give me a pattern, is this normal?
I'm stuck with the wool sails.

the ones in the outer ring? i think at some point they started telling me i needed to move to a different region to get new stuff. build up a stockpile of wool cloth and try heading into the next ring.

On discord I asked them to consider that when it does run out of sailing recipes (they may add more in EA later)... but when that point is reached, I wish they considered them the equivalent of KnowedgeStones, and gave me that knowledge instead.

The boat anchors in each biome have only enough information to let you get to the next biome. If you get no extra information from one, there's no point in using them until you move to the next biome. The anchors in this new biome will have additional information.

The same thing works for Knowledge Stones in each biome: eventually they will run out of things which can be made using the materials from that biome.
Good point. Xitooner and I wish that we could still get something from these "squeezed dry" stones and anchors.

I mean, it's more I think to prevent the content from all being "unlocked" in the first biome. That being said, I'm currently having some trouble locating a few pieces of equipment in the starter biome (namely Wool Cloth, and the required Loom Blueprint for it), wonder if I could create a new world and search there :P

that third sector is greyed out on my map...more specifically, i've only got the first two sectors filled in...I've been travelling from island to island trying to figure out which one has what I need :/

By the way..... something VERY interesting has changed in my 2nd run... I made a new character right after this last patch,, and started from scratch.... cant figure out if its because I know more about how the game works, or what?

My first anchor gave me a leaf sail... no big surprise. My SECOND anchor gave me a woolen sail (huh?). Already had it before leaving 1st sector. I suspect it may have been because I sheared a sheep and got wool really early... Bottom-line.. I hit every anchor I could in the 1st sectors on the way to the last fresco there, and I ended up with all 5 leaf sails and 4 woolen ones by the time I got the loom.

Then I went to the inner ring.... and anchors started giving linen sails almost immediately (maybe because I had found flax early?) I just got the sawmill and have 4 linen sail types.

This is WAY different than my 1st run; before it was really hard for me to get the 1st woolen/linen sails when I needed them. Dont get me wrong, this is really cool... but if this is the way it works now, it means that all the anchors in the 3rd biome arent gonna give me ANYTHING. . . .

Yeah, I think this may be fore-knowledge related. Conversely, I tried to do a "speed-through" character (for my guide, of course), only to hit a giant brick wall once I unlocked the sawmill! It seems that by skipping most of Fallen Heights, I shot myself in the foot; I didn't have any flax, nor hardly any waxed rope, and only a single type of Wool sail. Now, I have to keep finding anchors (by trial-and-error, since I also haven't gotten the Stormchaser or any Atlases). This is a vastly different experience from my first play-through!

I think for my third play-through (I may be playing too much Aloft... nah!), I'll try it more like Xitooner, a sort of "speedy explorer" run.

I just had an anchor not provide any knowledge tonight. I'm in biome 1, section 3 where you get the loom. I have unlocked all of the wool sails but the floaters are still leaf. I was assuming that there would be a wool one as well or am I wrong? Sorry this is my first play thru.

To reply to another poster. I was also getting advanced tech way before I was able to build it. For example, I was getting wool and clothing items many moons before the loom biome. I also finished the research for the cure before I could brew anything. I haven't reached the pottery stage. I've also only found bones once which I thought was strange. Who knows...

This means that you can't unlock anything else from anchors in this biome. You'll have to progress to the next biome to learn more.

Nope, no wool floater (yet). We're using Leaf Floaters the whole game, for time being.

Yeah, there's a long discussion on the way stuff unlocks long before it can be used.

Those are Biome #3 tech, late-game stuff. Don't worry about them for now.

Well, you probably found these little bird bones on corrupted islands. They let you examine them, but when the corruption is gone, the bones disappear as well. There are bones (much later, Biome #3) that can be collected, though.

Actually I found what looked like a bear skeleton in a cave in biome 01. I was able to make a sharp bone on the craft table. I also unlocked the bone and feather shelf around that time as well.

I'm just losing it trying to get the sawmill now. I have a butt ton of arrows but need to make planks to get the bow. BLAH!
Yeah, I found those bear bones last night as well. Strange, they are supposed to be in the third biome...

To get to the Sawmill fresco, you need to sail to the top part of the map. It's very far away in the second biome, just before you get to the third.

I think I know where that is. Luckily I have a bunch of atlas marking tons of way points. So I think if I book it there and just get the sawmill, I can find my way back to where I need it to clear one last island (the node is raised in the air) in where I stared in biome 2. I just don't want to keep falling into this having to remember islands to clear just because I don't have the bow.
