No animals spawning on any Emerald Isle

I started this game with a friend then started playing on my own, but every single world I create seems to be completely devoid of animals. I've seen that there's supposed to be a sheep east of the starting archipelago, but in the 4 separate worlds I've created, I've searched all the islands around the starting point with the field guide and the only thing I ever find are birds. My first world I also explored every part of the map I could get to without upgraded sails with nothing. Is there any known fix to this? Looks like I'm stuck with progression until I get wool. :/

Try the next map segment. You need to go (facing the central storm) to the right. You'll cross over the border into the next section and there is another beyond that. You don't need anything special to get there, just through the storm wall that is between starter and storm. Animals (mostly sheep, maybe a few alpacas, anything else is very rare in this circle) will be on islands beyond the starting area. Happy hunting!
