to many trees
Can we make it so that islands that are set as home has a way to turn tree spreading off. my island has gotten so laggy because of all the trees spreading so quickly. I try and thin them out but by the time I finish the other side of the island is covered in saplings again. Can we make it so that trees only grow if we plant them on home islands?

I was noticing my hirsute forest of a front lawn just before you posted this. I haven't tried this yet, but I'm pretty sure it will work: chop down the trees, then build something temporary on the ground. Once all those offensive, overgrown sticks are culled, you can remove the temporary flooring (or whatever you placed).

Of course, if you want to start planting trees again, it could start the tree stampede again...

Trees won't grow where objects are. This allows you to limit their spread. Throw down some garden plots, floors, whatever.

sorry but placing random stuff on the ground is not very pretty at all. i wanna see my grass and flowers. we need a way to get birth controle for tree's. something like if you take off al the branches that it wil not make any saplings anymore. when you chop a tree you always get more then 1 seedling back so...
Actually I would also like greater controls for my island. Its a constant battle to keep the tree population low. I'm not suffering lag but they grow too fast. I am over what is needed for the ecosystem and I would very much like the option to shut the growth off or set a growth percentage as well. I have wood coming out my ears, too. I don't need as much as I'm getting just because I'm trying to keep my island looking the way I want it to look.
I think they want to have automatic tree growth off by default. Then, they can add an item (found by learning stone) that enables automatic tree growth. The item could be toggled by pressing 'E'.
