It is possible that they are tweaking the randomizing function (note: while Aloft has no procedurally-generated islands, it does randomly place where the islands "land" on the map).
I have also found many islands of the Emerald Isle persuasion in the Red Cliffs areas. These archipelagos are shown in red, falsely indicating to me that they would be Red Cliffs biome.
No, you shouldn't get blueprints you already know. The one time I thought it happened to me, it turned out that the new blueprint (a Linen chair) was using the same icon as one I already knew (a light wood version; the new blueprint was a dark wood version that mistakenly looked light wood). If that's not the case with your situation, I would recommend sending a bug report.
Uh, afaik there are only two "clay machines" -- the Pottery Wheel (only obtainable at the final fresco site, an Adobe City in Red Cliffs) and the Kiln (which should also only unlock in the Red Cliffs). What, specifically, did you unlock? Sounds like a bug.
