Small animal diversity

I place the right habitat for the right biome. I release or place the correct small animal for the correct biome. It says it will not increase the small animal diversity count because the animal is the wrong type for the biome, so I cannot unlock the island. Bug? Corrupted save file? Time to start over? I have found no other thread for this issue. Thanks all

I've had this problem, some Islands have the wrong animals on already, it also seems that once you place one down you can pick up the bug/bird back up and it will stay on said island as well, I like but what of the wrong ones? maybe a new save might fix that...

Keep in mind that habitats and vivariums are two very different things. The habitats count towards the ecosystem, vivariums do not.
