We take inspiration from several games, movies and other cultural artefacts. Worlds Adrift is among those inspiration, but we are not affiliated to Bossa Studio in any way, nor are we Worlds Adrift 2.
Aloft is a much more relaxed experience we dubbed soft survival. Players will not be punished for errors or negligence, they must seek out trouble to face consequences.
In short, we do not plan to include a feature like what you are describing in the short term, however if fans would like to have a hardcore mode, we'd be happy to consider it.
Hoping I answered your question correctly! If you're still interested in the game, be sure to wishlist us and join the Discord server[discord.com] :)
This might not be the right place for this, but what are some other large inspirations?
We take inspiration a lot from Minecraft for the relaxing and open vibe of the game, and also from Subnautica for the progression (going higher instead of deeper) and the leviathans! Some other references we have are Breath of the Wild, No Man's Sky, and Valheim!
In the end we really want Aloft to be "its own thing", and we're trying to learn from other games' successes and failures!
This game reminds me of Project Nomads.
Listen to the player base. If you plan to monetize, do it with additional content or cosmetics but, keep it in the theme of the game. Don't sell to Snail!
This means a lot. I have nothing good to say about Bossa Studio. The whole World Adrift situation and the reason for its shut down is discraful to the community. But I guess in their eyes it was better to shut down and anger your player base, than face the lawsuits for how the game was build.
