But if you like action-movies that game will satisfied you :)
And climbing, finding treasures, sightseeing the world is funny too.
What does this mean?
Different locations, picking up treasures for bonuses, picking up weapons on the fly, going from level to level, lots of arcade shooting and a heavy empethazises on lightharded talk between the main character and its sidecharacters.
All this is pretty much 1:1 in similirarity.
However, i must confess that Uncharted does all of these things a tad bit better, especially the fourth installment.
Now what does this mean in contrast to the new Tr games?
It means you wont find big hub areas and you will never ever return to a previous location in the game. You will not be able to tweak and costumize your weapons and any outfit you can equip is locked until you completed the entire game and is cosmetic only.
There is a bigger empethizes on the climbing aspect and Nate is mostly together with a person, while in the new Tr games Lara is off on her own.
You cannot craft ammunition on the fly in Uncharted. You have to look for it.
Uncharted on its highest difficulty has fights that even make Dark Souls and Sekiro looks like childsplay. They can be outright unfair and next to impossible if you do not have the quiped granades with you. So there will be fights that are tuff as hell. Tomb Raider in stark contrast does not have such difficulty spikes on its highest settings. Its difficulty comes to redo entrie sections over and over again upon death. (especially Shadow of the Tomb Raider)
Uncharted has a lot more engaging and believeable charcters, a lot more refined and well crafted animations (like seriously animations are out of this world) and in its entirety has just a better visual department. It feels more gounded despite the absolute over the top moments and it is graphically even topping modern titles from 2023 and that game is now 7 years old. Its quite amazing what Naughty Dog archieved here.
In summary i would give it a try.
For whom is it better?
On PC, uncharted is less popular.
There is no open world in the game, that is, I will not be able to study lore.
Walking down the hallway is old fashioned
Looks like a marketing message.
You say that the exploration in the "Uncarted" is interesting, that you can explore every corner of the room.
I see that you haven't played Tomb Raider.
In tomb raider, you can explore huge locations that are not related to the plot.
Huge tombs with unique puzzles.
But I understand you.
Uncharted is a more casual version of Tomb Raider, where you don't have to think and which leaves nothing behind and catches only with beautiful graphics.
In Tomb Raider, I have to think during the stealth mechanic how to play correctly.
If you enjoy open world play with crafting equipment, side missions, exploration, etc., consider the Far Cry series especially FC 3 and FC 4. I think the TR/Rise/Shadow intentionally emulates Far Cry's game mechanics, except Far Cry is first person view while Tomb Raider is third person view. Other than that they are stylistically very similar: Friends to save; towers to climb; WWII Japanese bunkers to explore; locals to assist; exotic cultures vs. modern equipped armies; a supernatural enemy to defeat.
And then there is Red Dead Redemption 2 which for game play is very similar in style to the new Tomb Raiders, just set in a different genre. The side missions are really enjoyable and there is plenty of exploration.
Uncharted 4 is a lot of fun in its own right and I recommend it; however it seems it may not be in the game style you are seeking.
You wanted an answer and i gave it to. That you took this somehow personal is on you.
i play games since the early 90s and Tr1 was my first 3d game.
In fact i played every Tomb Raider title there is including the Lara Croft Spinn offs.
I know what im talking about in that regard.
Naughty Dog are industry leading in what they do. They are absolut masters in their craft, there is no real contest here.
The differences there are i pointed out. There are pros and cons here.
Anyway nice day to you
I really like Uncharted 4(its my first game in series), graphics, story and characters were really good, it was fun adventure. But if you like open world, crafting, exploring you may not like Uncharted.
I also really like TR(2013), Rise of TR is my favorite, didnt like Shadow(its not bad game but not good as previous).
Saying Uncharted(or TR) does everything better is just stupid.
- storytelling / relatable and likeable characters
- graphics: great environments and fantastically looking cutscenes
- bigger than life epicness
- humor!
Altogether: closer to Indiana Jones than the girl can ever be ;-P
I liked the first two of the TR reboot series, but Shadow was just tedious. The open world, jungle all the time, the dysfunctional stealth mechanics, the skill tree, collecting those plants for extra abilities... nothing worked for me.
Combat experience is bad, you are supposed to lose in many scenarios for the sake of the script, but the enemies are a joke they are dodging and shooting without even looking, shoot throught walls or solid objects, in other words the AI cheats a lot making the combats annoying rather than challenging.
The plot about the tresures isn't that great and the main history feels weak, but graphically i guess this game is just better.
If you just want to enjoy the very long movie that this games offers go ahead but if you want to spend more time actually playing this game isn't for you.
Uncharted story has heavy focus on character development while TR story while pretty good doesnt really stand out.
These are just my views on both franchises having played both with 100% completion.
