Why do I need to sign up for a free IOI account ... ?
Why do I need to sign up for a free IOI account and receive messages from IO Interactive to access the content if I want to play Hitman?

I was about to uninstall the demo and read that the above registration is required to play Hitman. I don't want to sign up somewhere and consume advertising just to play a computer game. It should be enough to be logged in to Steam.

I canceled the download and uninstalled the demo.

A wise decision.

Its an online cloud based game. If you want offline stuff then find Hitman 1 Game of the Year edition, Hitman 2, and Hitman 2 Expansion Pass online. I'd normally never recommend grey markets but due to one of IOI's amazing decisions regarding the accessibility of the franchise you don't have a choice.

you are encouraging people to pirate the game. THIS IS WILD.
You're not serious right? You do know you can by steam games online outside of Steam right? Right?!

Hitman h1 & h2 were digital products and these product were delisted as IOI basically removed them from existence so yea, THIS IS WILD.
Hence why i said you need to find them online, games are sold through other sites such as humble bundle so there are still keys floating out there. As for being delisted they still exist, all the products are still there they just aren't sold on Steam anymore. That's why things like Deadpool that are delisted became collector items and sell for $500.

Is this really that big of a deal? Signup for the IO Account and don't tick the box to subscribe to receiving emails. Problem solved.

Clearly to OP it is. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

I thought I'd take a look at the demo and get some additional content during the spring promotion if I liked it. The developers put unnecessary stones in the way of interested people. Especially when I haven't really decided on something yet, I don't want any additional effort or obligations. Imagine having to register for every game you want to try out. Some game providers make it difficult for customers and themselves.

Do I have to register for the game again even if I buy the game or is that only for the demo?

You have no idea how true that is in a variety of ways.

your game progression is tied to your IOI account and that is cross platform / store.
The progression transfer is not cross platform. The only cross platform transfer they allowed was Hitman 2 (Steam) to Hitman 3 (Epic).
Good to know. I only play on PC and have no intention of switching to anything else. Thanks for the information.
