Yeah, servers still up and running. Games still working pretty much as they ever did.
In some ways it might be preferable to play the original games vs. the content that made the jump to subsequent editions for the "full experience". I forgot just how many escalations didn't make it even into H2. (Granted, many of them are repetitive garbage, but if you want "quantity", it's there.)
Go and say the same thing to any other publisher of your choice.
The last thing I want is for quality to drop or things to become MTX focused.
Hard no on Free to Play.
That's not at all what they said. Way to miss a point...
that was the promise from the developer, the only reason they didn't actually deliver is because the way you acquire hitman 3. If you already owned hitman 3 you would get the H1 and H2 content packs for free. In fact you can get them if you download the hitman 3 demo.
So if you can play the full content of H1 and H2 on the demo, why call it a demo?
It being free to play would in no way would make it so they would make it MTX focused or the quality drops.
It's just that battle passes and seasons come in the free to play package, but there was never a rule stating you HAVE to put these things on a free to play game. It's just how the industry works.
The hitman trilogy is a edge case scenario in how the market works. The only other game that get continuous support and has content from the past iteration(s) that you can play on the recent one due to similar engines that I know of is payday 2. Everything else has to be rebuilt from the ground up for the new engines.
Your comment is dumb.
Exactly.
Hitman 3 world of assassination is more or less the definitive game the developers want. But why can't we play the past ones? Just give it to us if we buy the packs on H3.
For one, you can't play the full content of H1 & H2 on the demo. There are things that didn't carry over between games.
The second is that it's still a demo for H3. You can play one map--Dubai for the moment, I don't know if they actually rotate them any more. I thought that practice ended way back for H1--with limited features.
You can play the content pack you get if you purchased H1/H2
The point is you technically get a full experience on the demo if you own these packs
You don't, though. Not quite. You get an approximation of it, but not the full experience. The campaign is there and some of the escalations, but there's a fair amount, specifically from H1 that was left out. The contract pool is also different, timing and gameplay mechanics change throughout, and items. Not even getting into the timed experiences of the elusive targets.
At least the seasonal content is permanent now.
This gives us even more reason to get the old H1 if we buy the H1 pack.
Even if the H3 is the better experience, some people might want to play this old content.
