Demo actually works now!

Please try it out and give us info. I was quite confused to not find a 'trial' version to play H1 and 2.

I dont think thats it, the demo doesnt have achievements, and with hitman 2, you downloaded the game itself, without the "Demo" label on it.

I think it is the starter edition as it as the same branding as the microsoft and epic versions but either they set it as a demo on purpose to separate it or didn't know what steam's demo option was.

Finally able to actually get through to the demo and my unlocks are there but access to everything I already own that should have transferred is locked so this is not a starter edition and just a 65gb ad.

played too, 1 escalation from dubai and hokkaido snow festival is all what was avaible in demo, transfered my safes no problem. But all i can do with my stuff is in hokkaido stashes and thats all folks. Also game saves every 3 second in menu and in gameplay itself, so weird.
In main menu you can quote Upgrade to full version, so i dont think you have to redownload h3 all over again. Sorry for spelling)

Does seem to be completely pointless as even though progress has been transferred from H2, cannot play any H1 or H2 content and it just says to buy them as DLC. Think someone mentioned that they purposely put the free edition as a demo so it does not get achievements nor access to any DLC. Which means it locks you out of being able to play H1 and H2 in H3 even if you own them.

It's set up like a "demo" and demos don't have DLCs, thus you won't be able to access H1 and H2 locations. It could be a bug, but the cynic in me says they did that deliberately, so people won't be able to leave negative reviews (which they still can currently by purchasing, posting a negative review and refunding, but it's too much work for most people).

My hope/guess is that someone at IOI decided to set the starter edition as a "demo" and didn't realize how limiting a steam demo is meant to be. On the other hand they could have tried to set it as a demo so people couldn't leave a review.
