PSA: Fixing controller sensitivity/drifting issues with Steam Input

Hello there,

If you are experiencing controller sensitivity issues or drifting in this game this brief guide will be useful for you.

During my first attempt to play this game on my Steam Deck I found the game to be unplayable as Nowa would just walk around of his own accord and even navigating the menu was an issue as the game has extremely high controller sensitivity.

I've gotten around this issue by using Steam Input and setting the 'deadzone type' to 'cross', in addition I have also made a community layout that Steam Deck users can download.

To access Steam Input you'll want to navigate to the game in your library before clicking on the controller icon as shown below.

Next you'll want to either click on the 'Official Layout' to access and select my community layout or 'Edit Layout' to amend the default layout.

When amending the default layout you'll need to click on 'joysticks' followed by the cogwheel next to 'Left Joystick Behaviour'.

Once you're into the joystick settings you'll want to navigate to 'dead zones' before scrolling down to 'deadzone type'.
Click on 'none' and change the value to 'custom', finally you'll want to set the 'dead zone shape' to 'cross'.

In the Community layouts section you need to press a button to show them all , in my xbox controller was "X"

I started playing this game yesterday and had to use the d-pad for movement because the stick kept going in one direction. I thought something was wrong with it but turns out it's an issue with the game (that hopefully gets fixed). Your layout worked perfectly and solved the problem. Thanks for the fix!

although this works, the devs should still fix it themselves. I own the game on steam, but I wonder if that problem still exist in the gog release? Where steam input isnt a thing. Its not like it is a super big feature to add, this could be done as a hot fix, or simply a small update inside one the main patches. Its insane to me that they dont even comment on this

Yeah, the issue exists in the GOG release (and most likely on the Epic release as well). I agree that it should be fixed.

I've tried this but I still have issues using my PS5 controller plugged into my PC. Super annoying issue.

Finally got my GoG version working on my Deck. Thanks for this I was worried it was stick drift.

I set Dead Zone Shape to Cross and values above that option between 20 and 80. Should make the Cross in blue circle look chunkier. Restarted the game and the problem seems to have gone.
