the game is .... boring?
This isnt a thread about ranting, i just want to enjoy the game more but ... cant!

it feels boring, 7 hours in, i force myself to play a little here and there but it doesnt get better.

My problems:
there is literally just nothing to do in the game? I am just running around very long ways, listen/talk to people and fight random mobs with auto battle. fights are way to boring to play manually, so i just use the auto function. Only fights i play manually are boss fights, but they feel too long to enjoy imo.

so basically, running, listening/reading, autobattle, fight 20 min a boss manually. thats it? or am i missing something? Story is also just "average" so far.

how much more time i need to give it so it starts getting better?

Been playing jrpg since forever, recently played Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, enjoyed them.

This game is boring. People who enjoy it probably enjoy it for the fantasy the game sells. The characters, the story, etc.

But mechanically it is boring. Aside from what OP said, there's also the fact that magic is useless and so battles are mostly attack attack use special attack attack.

Not every jrpg is like this, only the boring ones.

It could be your tastes have changed? This is quite old school in how id plays, most games now days try different ways to be more modern.

The game is unfortunately a miserable slog until you get the castle which makes it slightly better. You can make the game a lot better with cheat engine to speed hack as a turbo mode but unfortunately it can make the game unstable and crash quite frequently. I would have to say even with a native turbo mode the game is quite average and I play pretty much every jrpg release out there.

Eiyuden does not capture any of the magic that the Suikoden series did with its writing but it's not entirely a bad game, just mostly mediocre and average. A lot of people are super die hard fans and will die on the hill because of the history of this game but objectively it's a mixed bag.

I think the story is fairly slow in the beginning. That said, I just play minigames in between recruiting/story points.

If you've reached the point where you have your own castle and still find it boring, then this game is probably not for you because that's when the game starts to get really interesting in my opinion.

Hard to believe you when you have a bunch of posts complaining about the localization.

oh no... not the heckin localizationino!

Its the Combat, that makes the Game boring. I tried Manuel combat at the beginning until i realized, Auto can solves all the Battles aswell. I thought switching to Manual is necessary at some Point when Auto starts to struggle but it doesnt seem Like that.

when someone complains so much about the localization, i stop believing anything else they have to say about the game.

I agree with this, I really didn't check their history. this whole criticism of the game boring went right out the window then, they just tried to complain about an issue that about 99% do not have to demolish the game

I checked OP's profile when I first saw the topic and couldn't come up with an argument. They clearly play a lot of JRPGs. SO if they're bored, who can argue with that? I see they got pretty far into DQ and didn't finish it... I got a plat in it. IMO that is far more boring than this game, but they stopped halfway through so they didn't get to the looping parts where it just repeats a couple times.

"Boring" is subjective.

If you're bored with it, maybe go do something else until you're ready to play a JRPG.

I think the biggest issue with combat from what i've seen so far is how limited spells are. There are few ways to restore MP and therefore strategies become quite limited.
Duradan Apr 27, 2024 @ 4:41pm
Until a certain lvl of HQ, you can not buy mana pots basically. there are bigger spells they just come in mid-game aka like Inferno

You sound like someone born in like 2010 who has never played a turn based jrpg before....Combat is great

Well, it is subjective, but to me it is also boring as hell. I am 36 y/o and I've played tons of jrpgs and to me this auto battle design is super lazy. Each battle is just auto auto. What's the fun in that? I never played Suikoden games, but I just can't enjoy mindless gameplay like this. I just came here to find out if it gets any better later on and now I know.

I think that some people, who try this game, don't exactly realise what they step into - into a game, that tries to fill the shoes of another game series that is almost 30 years old. And many mechanics in this game were crafted after that series (hero recruiting, town building, war battles, minigames and etc). Of course it may feels like a slog to modern gamers or some people, who been playing only most "innovative" games for past 30 years, watching them evolve different mechanics. This game here just tries to be true to its roots though... though it fails in some ways.

I enjoy this game a lot, but I I find Tales of Vesperia boring, some games just don't click with some people. I guess this one just didn't click with you, and that's okay.

Not everyone has to love every RPG. We all have different tastes. If we didn't, life would be boring.
