Beware of Eiyuden Chronicles Discord Mods...
Just an FYI, while searching to see just how BAD the localisation was on the official Eiyuden discord... I saw a very recent message from a mod. You can see it below:

https://i.imgur.com/UBJjxCd.png

After reading this message, I thought it was really odd a moderator for a small studio like Rabbit & Bear studio is threatening new members. What does being new have to do with anything?

For some history, I've played Suikoden 1-5. I really really miss the work of the late Yoshitaka Murayama. To see a 'rogue' localisation team change so much of the dialect bothered me.

Why would a mod power trip about valid concerns?

Here was my direct response to the mod who posted the message above:

ignore the the wreaks / reeks typo haha.

I was in that server since 2021. I've been telling literally everyone I know about the game. My policy is to wait a few days before buying a new game. I was playing my brother's early-access copy to test it.

I don't know what to say. I think this is a problem that should be made note of, this individual mod is power-tripping. Ban Appeals are also minimum 30 days before you can appeal.

I'm going to hold out for changes or mods to the translation before purchasing this game.

the localizer is not a discord mod. do you people even hear yourselves talk?

Not interested in listening to the trolls that try to handwave everything away. Go bother someone else.

If they're allowing the localizer in question to hand out bans to anyone that dares talk about it, then I'm not even going to bother buying this game. I've been a huge fan of the Suikoden series for decades and my profile pic is the True Lightning Rune. I was really looking forward to Eiyuden Chronicle but allowing this type of abuse is beyond unprofessional.

It's a shame, this was basically an automatic buy once they patched some of the issues but I'd rather not indirectly support people like Koryiaki. Guess I'll just buy Baldur's Gate 3 instead.
if you actually think localizers run the discord or company social media, maybe consider getting off the computer, go outside, talk to normal humans. Get involved in your local community, look at some job postings, google how company structure works. Detach from your echo chamber, maybe even seek a therapist, you can get better, with or without the game, I believe in you.

Banning people enmasse is not community management, it's basically trying to push whatever issue they don't agree with under the rug. This is a product people paid for and they are unhappy with it, make a new channel for people to vent their issues out and have them provide examples of the localization they are unhappy with. Making a spectacle and just banning people is never good optics.

see dude, just "good faith" actors. None of them planned to buy the game, they are just the stragglers who haven't moved on to their next social justice war.

Damn what a near miss. You were actually just one sentence away from an objective reply. Maybe next time.

So you just want to read confirmation of your own weird conspiracy theories?

Heres a tip. These trolls arent out to make a valid point or to even make sense. They only want to stoke the fire hoping to burn someone. Usually someone saying something they dont like or simply APPEARING to say something they dont like. It has nothing to do with reality. They just want to feel important.

Dunno, everyone in there seems happy and helpful to me. I think how the lot of you portray yourselves on here is worse optics and has only brought the game more success

Because it's unheard of to have moderators that are involved in other aspects of the development?

But I think I'll take advice from someone that isn't making constant comments on this topic for hours on end.

a vast majority of people here who are complaining are doing it under the argument of "fix this thing i saw while scrolling social media, or i will never buy your game", which is, of course, a joke. it's irresponsible to let such people ruin the experience for others.

I'd rather hear from someone objective in the matter, ideally from someone in an official capacity, not someone that constantly trolls this topic for hours.

Im against saying that OH WOKE AGENDA oh the DEVS ARE LEFTIST how stupid are the americans here holy moly.

The Translation in English and German has issues. But they are not political one. Stop making everything political... thats just STUPID.

I personally did a fantranslation of Suikoden 1 in German. And we tryed to be accurate as possible and remove cencosring that was made in the English version.

Sometimes you cant be accurate because it would sound extremly stupid in the native language.

Or some word play just dont work. But then you need to do it that it make still sense. And here has Eiyuden some serious problems. Even some hints are not hints anymore because the wordplay dont work or was mistranslated.

No its because normally translation is done by AN OUTSIDE COMPANY/CONTRACTOR UNAFFILIATED WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OR DISTRIBUTION OF THE GAME. Official discords are handled by the developers or the publishers and generally HIRE PEOPLE to handle their social media. Its a BASIC practice.

As opposed to the people who say 'this is amazing, it's made for ME' and -still- don't buy it?

On the one hand we have people who want to buy the game but cannot because the English language localisation is currently not fit for purpose, full of unprofessional lines and USA political insults.

Once that is fixed they will buy the game, that's lost sales currently

On the other hand we have left leaning culture 'warriors' who say that the politically charged insults are perfect and makes them happy to see, but they STILL DO NOT BUY THE GAME

So they are not the customer base, they were never going to be customers (because such political stuff in Fantasy IP's is universally unpopular as it has nothing to do with the Fantasy IP's)

So you would have the Developers listen to your feedback and gain NO sales, rather then listen to 99% feedback to allow English customers to play the game the way the DEVELOPERS MADE IT and gain MORE sales

You don't have the mouse icon either, but you like throwing shade to others who are missing it

I don't think it's normal practice to ban any person that dares touch upon what should be a neutral topic, yet here we are.
