Beware of Eiyuden Chronicles Discord Mods...

Just an FYI, while searching to see just how BAD the localisation was on the official Eiyuden discord... I saw a very recent message from a mod. You can see it below:

After reading this message, I thought it was really odd a moderator for a small studio like Rabbit & Bear studio is threatening new members. What does being new have to do with anything?

For some history, I've played Suikoden 1-5. I really really miss the work of the late Yoshitaka Murayama. To see a 'rogue' localisation team change so much of the dialect bothered me.

Why would a mod power trip about valid concerns?

I was in that server since 2021. I've been telling literally everyone I know about the game. My policy is to wait a few days before buying a new game. I was playing my brother's early-access copy to test it.

I don't know what to say. I think this is a problem that should be made note of, this individual mod is power-tripping. Ban Appeals are also minimum 30 days before you can appeal.

I'm going to hold out for changes or mods to the translation before purchasing this game.

Yes, when you hop onto a harassment campaign you are assuming the risk. Why do you deserve special treatment? They have an incredible amount of trolls to clear out and I don't see any reason they would waste time on any of them.

I don't use the steam community at all. I have I think one review. I have bunch of steam points, not everyone uses steam like a social media platform. This account is ridiculously old without checking I think it's like 2010 haha.

He's literally one of the most popular and distinctive Black characters in video games

They even have a "incase you got wrongfully banned" officially discord because they are aware innocent people will get caught in the cross fire, but better that method than allowing the onslaught of trolls free rain in the official main discord.

Banning supporters of the game on whim is not cool. They're real people, I don't know if you were that mod in particular, I won't assume, but I think that's just poor moderation.

At worst you can mute them. The ban appeals are 30 days long. Why would anyone wait and deal with that? Treating the player base divisively by separating 'good' from 'bad' is horrendous. You're making snap decisions on real people calling them trolls and as other members mentioned 'Don't even own the game' (aka not pay mules).

Maybe I'm old-fashion, but I treat people like I want to be treated. I gained nothing by speaking up for those people btw, I could have ignored what that mod said, it did not personally effect me or the enjoyment of the game. But I did.

Suppressing a bunch of rabid internet trolls spewing garbage meant to incite harassment does help people. The inane babbling going on about this game right now isnt a discussion its nonsense.

When you have 10x the members of your discord trying to harass said discord you have to implement some sweeping rules to make sure the discord doesn't fall into disarray or risk having to manually delete thousands of troll posts. There was no easy option and they are doing the best they can with what they have had to deal with.

oh yeah, its super obvious the few remaining trolls are doing the "oh I'm just an innocent by stander who happens to agree with them" nonsense to try and normalize their nonsense. I've been checking the groups and friend lists of people, it's not even remotely subtle. The joys of work being slow lol.

I mostly avoid social media because I do not enjoy being mistreated, or seeing others mistreated. Thank you for highlighting this, if what you say is true, then this person must be under a lot of stress regarding the feedback on the localisation.

In any case, we can do better. I said what I had to say so I'll move on. Not really looking for a witch hunt.

If they're allowing the localizer in question to hand out bans to anyone that dares talk about it, then I'm not even going to bother buying this game. I've been a huge fan of the Suikoden series for decades and my profile pic is the True Lightning Rune. I was really looking forward to Eiyuden Chronicle but allowing this type of abuse is beyond unprofessional.

It's a shame, this was basically an automatic buy once they patched some of the issues but I'd rather not indirectly support people like Koryiaki. Guess I'll just buy Baldur's Gate 3 instead.

I'm an admin in a discord server with thousands of users and I never once thought it would be a good idea to start banning people whenever some new drama started. You guys over there are acting like children and are incapable of actually taking any criticism. It's a damn shame that Japanese devs like to hand over community management to immature people that can never look at anything objectively.
