Treasure Map Generation Problem

I'm unable to find the treasure chest in this location because I cannot dig further than I already have. Should I just destroy the map and give up on the chest, as I had not gotten this chest before?

Bridge over to the land to your right! The X indicates the spot pretty accurately, so you've just been digging in the wrong spots :3

Nah the treasure map shows it's on the island below them across the water. They already dug there and they just kept digging further up because there's no where else they can dig on those edges of that little island. That's just a cursed treasure chest spawn location.

I had same issue for this map and a few others

I had this happen as well. (Check out "No treasure?" in Ossono's Tavern.) I also have at least one map that shows an island that doesn't exist in that world.
