How to remove wood or stone path improvements?

I put down a wood path, and then later I wanted to replace it with a stone path. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the original wood path, and so I tried to put a stone path to replace it. Now I have a wood path with a stone path on top of it, and I can't get rid of either.

Can anyone help? How do you get rid of improvements like wood or stone paths you've laid down? Thanks!

It should ask if you want to remove it with a keypress when standing need the path.
