personally i like the glider, balloon was way too slow and killed my brain, the very first time i ran out of stamina like 3 cm from my first island because i didn't notice it going down ._.
Example if I hated the state of poison types should I make a post to petition the removal of poison types from the game? Or should I just not use poison in my team? If I hated it on enemies should I ask for removal? Or should I suggest an actual logical way to rebalance it? If I don't have a good idea for rebalancing it I think it would be more logical for me to suggest the dev team find a way to rebalance it instead of asking them to remove it completely.
Most of the people who are complaining here about a potential removal or rebalancing of the Glider have the Glider since the first 1-2 weeks in Season 1 of a game which has no time limit.
Those ppl unlock the Balloon on day 2 (after your mom & dad's broom broke)
and
unlock the Broom on day 4-5 or even sooner. Even I managed to unlock the broom around that time and I was compareably lazy early on.
The switch from Broom to Glider:
(And I say it again...)
Those... who're complaining here, mostly unlocked the Glider in the first Season!
AND: Technically it is possible to unlock the Glider 2-3 days after you unlocked the Broom. You don't even need the Spirit Barn for that. You just have to unlock the Moon Enchanter as another crafting table.
And... like 4 pages... everyone claims "we need the Glider for that game". And I ask: "for what do you need the Glider since week 1?"
And the only answer is: "without the Glider traveling suc.ks and everything is too far away and removing the Glider would make the game tooo uncozy!"
...whatever that means. Used the Broom since mid summer and uncovered almost half of the map. Where is this uncozy?
The further discussion:
Removal of the Glider or the Rebalancing of Broom & Glider - Pros & Cons
And thaaaat...! further discussion is running since page 1 of this thread... BTW! And that... while most of all of the ppl here... who stated that "removing the Glider" kills the entire game are totally ignoring it.
Why? Cause they just want the Glider since week 1 of year 1. In the same way you could cheat your entire game.
Portable Buildings:
It is mentioned that Buildings are portable. You just need at least 2 buildings of the type you want to move / transport.
Means:
You can permanently go onto a journey with your Alchemist Tent and your Spirit Barn and you have everything with you!
Even I think, that is totally OP! No discussion about that. But, the developer could balance that, like... making the building-recipes cheaper (rather in terms of moonstone-costs).
That way, buildings could even be stationary objects. In terms of Outposts.
Either way...
there's no reason, why ppl need to fly back to their HQ (Home Island). Either you do exploring, then you can go onto a journey with your portable tent and your Spirit Barn. Or you do harvesting and romancing.
But you don't need to do everything and once!
And BTW:
Even with Glider! Nobody can make me believe that doing all those tasks at once...
Planting and Tilting
Chopping and Smashing
Harvesting
Crafting
Romancing
and Exploring and Pet-Training
... that you do all those things every day and thaaaat your gaming style still feels "cozy". Cause all that twisted time-management...all pressed into 24 hours isn't cozy at all. Even the Glider isn't thaaaaaaat amazing that you can press every task into 24 ingame hours.
Exploring only does fun, if you aren't permanently stressed by your home base. That's why the buildings are portable!
That's not true. Moonstone Village doesn't even have a time limit. You can play this game for 50 years or so. It just takes longer, cause you've to move from island to island - which makes exploring slightly more challenging.
Those, who really love games like this, already played games like Harvest Moon over 50 years till the characters grow old. And the original Harvest Moon-games are a bigger challenge than this here.
And the Broom isn't that weak, either. I used it till the mid of summer. And I uncovered almost half of the map. It is just harder to fly into regions with less islands. But calling that uncozy and unplayable like you or others do is hilarious.
If you'd remove the Glider now and someone new would start playing the updated game, that person wouldn't feel any difference at all.
The only way how this person would find out that this game had that Glider-tool was, cause of forum or some promo- or old yt-videos.
This is such a stupid argument I don't even know how to begin with you. This is like saying if you took away all phones the people that come after us won't even know how much faster it was to call/text someone than send a letter. Do you see how stupid that sounds?
"A frog at the bottom of the well doesn't know how big the sky is" -Chinese proverbs
Uh...huh?><
You don't need to... "begin" with me... but ok?
Oh come on. That's hilarious. Everyone who ever used the Broom know how hilarious that argument is. That's rather like the difference between 5G and 6G or so... xD
(and next I bet... I get a lesson about the differences between 5G and 6G...>>')
everything you said here is pretty reasonable, i was mainly referring to the first pages post by excession, posts like yours aren't the same as saying 'just don't use it' and actually add to the discussion that you disagree and that it would probably cripple your experience, essentially signing the 'petition' to not do it
i should have probably quoted it or replied to it directly, my apologies, it's this one:
the OP's post is a suggestion, a post like this saying just don't use it and don't force your preferences on the rest of us is literally trying to force the OP to ignore a feature they think is unbalanced and not dare to make a suggestion for removal or nerf. this comes off as highly antagonistic to me especially since it was one of the first replies before the chat started to derail into an argument or any insults were thrown around
anyways, yeah, you could definitely make a petition or suggestion if you thought the state of poison types was unpleasant and took away from the game, that's what forums and suggestions are for, it's not an attack or an affront to people to say 'hey, can we remove this feature? or at least nerf it?' (which is what the OP does) (before spiraling into insults/flaming back and forth, of course
it's also not an attack to say "disagree, don't take away this feature" or explain why you disagree, but the idea that the OP just based off not liking his suggestion deserves to be scorned or dismissed with 'just don't use it' doesn't really sit well with me
It might feel a bit better if it was pushed back a bit later in the game (like eg; having the recipe behind a quest to clear 4-5 dungeons, it gives the broom a bit more of a spotlight but still keeps the scope to a manageable area, and pushes the glider back to around the back 1/3rd of spring and make its impact a bit more appreciable.)
It's definitely a really minor issue though and works fine enough as is, definitely not something that really merits a 69 post thread
Brooms are still useful in dungeons to cross gaps, up until the player unlocks the teleporter. At that point a year has almost passed in game and there should be tools that have become obsolete in the face of better upgrades.
Balloons are truly obsolete but they should be. They’re incredibly slow and frustrating to use. Almost like they were made that way intentionally to push the player into upgrading soon.
I prefer the balloon to the broom in dungeons.
"If it's removed-" It's not going to. Also, removing a feature already in the game VS having a feature in a game are two entirely different states of being that don't compare. Let's break it down for you:
1: The glider is in the game. This is our current reality. The glider is there and you are free to take it or leave it at your leisure. Everybody wins because the few people who think (erroneously) that they know better can simply impose that arbitrary restriction on themselves. We all win, every reasonable adult in the room is happy, and all is right in the world.
2: In another, less logical alternate reality, the glider is removed because someone threw a fit about it on the steam forums and convinced all the important people in charge of the game with their very persuasive insults. Reasonable people no longer have the option to choose how they'd like to play. They are now forced to comply with some random nobody's poor idea of game design. No fun is allowed and nobody is happy, not even the person who wanted the glider gone is happy because they've moved on to throw a fit about some other element of the game they don't like and have found new people to insult.
See? As things are right now, all you need to do to live OP's misguided dream of perfect game balance is to simply not use the glider. Nobody loses anything, nobody has to be upset, and all it requires is for OP to get on that broom, buckle up, put on their helmet, charge that bar up and take off with a blast to the reality of their wildest, balanciest dreams, the glider becoming but a faint memory left in the dust.
i don't get why thinking it should be removed or balanced differently makes one unreasonable
is it not possible that people who make the suggestion and don't want feel distressed about a powerful feature the same way you'd be stressed about the removal of it?
no one is forced here in any capacity when the op says
i also don't understand how wanting a single thing changed is a dream of perfect balance, i disagree with his views on the glider but i'm struggling with understanding what's so bad about him wanting this
in my view, i got here to a suggestion i disagreed with, saw a few comments disagreeing before someone immediately pulled out 'just don't use it' and even insinuated the OP is forcing himself on others for daring to suggest a nerf or removal
it really comes off as
'just don't use it, this thing bothers you but it'd bother ME if it were removed, so you have to ignore it! you're forcing yourself on us!' every other argument here about why it'd be a bad idea, including yours is much better than 'just do it' and actually contributes to the discussion
we aren't everyone, would it not be better if the developer sees the suggestion and makes their own decision, polls or looks at the views instead of just saying it'll never happen? or to just disagree instead of outright dismiss a person as some villain forcing himself on us because we disagree with the idea?
