Alchemy table?

So when do you get access to the alchemy table/ cauldron? Do you have to complete a quest?

Yes that is a quest reward.

1. Find a 'Concoction' (there are other potions too, so make sure to read the description). Put that bottle into a storage bin until you get a letter from mom.

2. While you wait, tame a few water spirits and collect seaglass from them in the spirit barn. Also use the smelter to burn a few stacks of wood into ashes - you need the seaglass to craft empty bottles and the ashes are an ingredient for alchemy.

3. In her letter, mom wants you to send her a concoction, so throw that bottle into the shipping bin.

4. Wait for the blueprint in the mail.

I'm not sure when exactly I got the letter but it was before autumn so maybe it will be in the mail for you soonish?
