What's the purpose of eggs?

To hatch them, obviously. But I have so many earth eggs taking up space in my inventory, and I can also just tame spirits. Is the benefit of eggs just that you get to choose the cards and how to allocate points? Or do spirits sometimes hatch from eggs that you can't find on the islands?

The eggs allow you to control the stats and which cards they will have, while the sprites you tame in the wilds will have random cards and stat points allotted.

They might also serve a purpose in only obtaining certain spirits through eggs, but I'm unsure. I do have a spirit named "Dropple" that I have never seen in the wild.

Given the skill tree has things about upgrading cards when slotting them in to your spirits deck and chance of obtaining rare skills or even secret skills-> It does make sense to get a clean pet starting with a set of fresh cards to select from.

The Attributes you select will allow for builds as well feeding right into^ this.

It's a lot less work than the alternative which would be to cleanse, meditate and what not a spirits deck taking a lot of time for something that's not your fault to begin with.
