mines?

so one thing im confused about so far is how to find more mines, i assume just randomly breaking rocks will eventually spawn one on other islands but i want to make sure before i go waste time trying to RNG it.

Also you dont break "random rocks" you only break "big rocks". There wont be a mine under small ones so ingore those.

are you sure about 1 per island? i found 2nd one on my first island here are pictures:

If you are sure about only 1 mine per island then it probably should be reported as a bug for finding 2 mines in main island.

There is also a mine one the Beach portion of the Main Island.

But i guess the main Island is made up of different Islands that form a huge Island.

1.) Your building Plot.
2.) Beach
3.) Upper part which you cant reach unless you did something first (dont wanna spoiler)

That or it really is a bug in which the game believes there are multiple Islands but in fact aint. Boith is possible.

I just found the first mine on the starter island - under a small rock ^^'
Maybe a minor bug?
But good to know I don't have to look for another one before I move to the next place.

2 mines on starter island for me as well. Also, 2 moonstone occasionally(when it says "one per island" everywhere) but more often, zero moonstone. Moonstone island has a distinct lack of moonstones in my experience

Soooo…i have found 3 mines on main island. One on upper north west portion, one just south of the outdoor bath/swim hole and one on the beach island. And one was under a small stone. (shrug)

yea I remember on discord the devs said main island is 3 islands combined, and each island u find 1 mine.

The spirit, "Barkbyte," has the ability: "While following you [walking behind you on screen], it allows a second mine to be found on each island."

So, if anyone has Barkbyte following them maybe that's why? If not, perhaps a glitch. Not sure.

Main island has 3 mines as it is technically 3 islands, according to what Pexaan said before me (devs said so on discord). It makes sense; I found three and only three on the main island - one near my home, one on the beach, one by the hot springs.

I haven't taken Barkbyte out for a spin yet but am about to because I want to find & clear the second mine on the main island so I can close the mines. (The one near my house is in a frustrating spot, so I want it gone.)

Just FYI, you can still use Barkbyte to find a second mine even if you've closed the first one. (Despite the warning when you close a mine that you will never find another mine on that island).

Ah, awesome! Thanks for letting me know, I'm here looking for one last mine before closing this irksome-ly placed one up, so I'll just close it for now. 🙏

As an update, I have found a total of 5 mines on the main island with Barkbyte following me. All, "big rocks," no small ones. 2 mines near my home, 2 near-ish to the shrine, and only 1 on the beach - likely due to there being wayyyy less rocks on the beach.

If I buy a rock and place it then break those can I open up a second mine? I have several islands where I leveled the whole place (trees, rocks, and grass). Would this prevent me from finding the second mine?

Yes you can, I tested it with Barkbyte following me around.
