Character creation

So, I'm still a bit confused. I dont want to start a new war regarding this topic, I just want to understand :D
The Mods stated 'Your character has no gender, you can assign it whatever you like :)' like...I cant create a Male/Female/Whatever Character upfront but then "assign" a gender ??

there is none you just appear, so not sure how the game determines what you are or how others perceive you until we play i guess. I'll probably just check out a youtube video to see. It's confusing but whatever lol.

From what I've seen there is no character creation. You play as a premade character whom looks like a girl to me. It would be nice to be able to change my looks like in stardew valley or like more clothes/costumes.

The devs stated the character is genderless. By "assign" they mean in your head cannon. If you feel they're female, then they are. If you feel they're male, then they are. If you feel they're non-binary, then they are.

Anyone who has an issue with this point, just consider that Pokemon had premade, somewhat gender-less game play. Just because you could pick the word, it didnt change much. I'm enjoying the game without customization.

No the character definitely looks like a young girl, especially in the sleep scene. So if I romance the adult women they're pedi lesbians?

They talk about inclusiveness but I guess that only applies to LGBT. I can't make an adult male character. If you're making a character like this it's just better to not include any 'romance' paths and just do friendship.

They've got more serious problems with performance and crashing. But it would be cool to have some customization.

They said they were considering adding customizing to the main character after so many requests, but initially started with the character we have now due to only drawing animations for that. They stated there was quite a few animations so it would take time to add customization, if they did.

I'm really enjoying the gameplay thus far; it's interesting to be immersed in a world where its somewhat like stardew and pokemon, with the ability to fight creatures and upgrade their skillets...but I really wish I could give my character a unique name and change it's outfit to something else. Customisation would make it more personal to all players preferences. That is something I really enjoyed in Stardew - making the character seem unique.
