I dont think every faming sim has romancing, quite a lot that I played didn't have any, a very small amount does so Idk what games you been playing tbh.
Firstly, in no game are you FORCED to interact, so much so that it is a feature that I ignore in most of them.
Secondly, since Harvest Moon in 1990, this type of game goes beyond farming, it has relationships, stories, discoveries. If you just want to farm, there's a great game for you: Farming Simulator.
Fae Farm also has a very weak social side, if you're interested, but surprise: it also has history and the focus is not the farm.
Stop being a jerk saying things like "lonely guy" and referencing as "those type of people", you are no better than anyone for liking binding of isaac instead of nekopara.
Second why does it have to have any deep connection to farming. The genre these games fall under isn't just farming sim but also involves lite life sim elements. Farming isn't the only piece of the equation. Getting to know the other residents and characters around you, finding romance, and other activities like town festivals, fishing, mining, etc are also common features even when they have little to do with farming. If you just want a pure farming simulator there's the aptly named Farming Simulator 22. But this genre this game is branching off from isn't the same thing as that.
Also the game is putting it's own spin on things and making itself stand out. The alchemist focus, the mechanics of how romance works in the game, spirit collecting, the card battle system. 100 procedurally generated islands to explore. That's a fair bit to differentiate itself from the other Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley type games. It's not like they are just putting out some bog standard release that just imitates Harvest Moon and that's it.
secondly, sure it might be generally a copycat feature but if that's the standard, then literally almost every game has significant copycat features. for example, so many games have combat systems in games where it's not needed. so many games have levelling systems in games where it's not needed. etc.
thirdly, romance in the farming sims that have it are implemented differently. maybe you should be focusing on finding new ways to implement it or ways to better integrate it into the game.
fourthly, farming sims almost always have NPCs where you go around and talk to townsfolk. Since romance is a huge part of socialization, it makes sense to have some of it in there.
fifthly, romance is often semi-optional as in you don't need to engage in it to do most of the game's progression, unlike so many other games which use combat or other "copycat" systems.
In a way I could understand him not liking that feature even if i do like it and see it as some kind of slice of life element.
That would be also part of what makes these worlds more normal for me I suppose?
However yes, the rest from what I reading was rather insulting.
I personally love romance. I find it beautiful. All forms of love even platonic are wonderful. So I like having the option. Plenty of people in relationships play these types of games and even full on dating sims. So you really don't need to push the whole 'lonely' thing. It's just sad, dude.
But what you said is just stupid.
Harvest moon, (SoS) a wonderful life.
