High level islands

The update made it so earth, water, and poison islands could spawn at the edge (for higher level spirits), does anyone know if this applies to existing maps? Like, will my map have new islands populated on it now, or would I need to start a new game with a new map to have these islands?

Not sure what you mean at all but when you create your world it generates the islands. So if you want a new setup it would have to be a new world. I dont think the update would change existing unless there was some way to reset it.

Originally, only fire and dark islands could be found at the edge of the map (so the only really high level spirits in the wild were fire and dark), the update changed that so other high level islands could exist. I know that when you start a game your map gets generated then and there, and I started playing before the update. So basically, what I'm worried about is that now I'll need to make a new game of I want a map with the new high level islands, which sucks.

That is likely the case. There wasn't any stuttering upon entering the game post-update, so I doubt anything about my save changed.

That's unfortunate, but I guess it is what it is, I'm not about to start a new game just for a different variety of high level islands.
