Will future achievements be retroactive?

The devs have said they would be adding achievements when the final 1.0 version drops in about a year or so. If I buy the game now, and play it during the next year, will I have achievements drop for things that I have already completed, or will I have to do things all over again to get the achievements?

I mean... you can't get achievements before they exist but if there is another complete the slimepedia achievement and you have a completed one when the achievements are added then you'll get it if that's what you meant

Yes, that's what I was referring to. If I sell 50,000 plorts in the next year, and then they put out achievements later, one of which is sell 50,000 plorts, would I get that achievement right away, or would I then have to sell another 50,000 plorts to unlock the achievement? I just wondered if the game would have a way of tracking things like this even before the achievement had even been created so that all of your progress over the previous year would count.

You'll probably have to sell the 50k plorts again since I don't think the game tracks those things meaning steam would once it needs to (ie achievements) but "toggle able" achievements such as completing the slimepedia (toggle able as in it's a completed slimepedia or not if that makes as much sense as I think it does) would be given to you but only once you load the save that has the completed slimepedia
