GROSS is a passion project, and every ounce of passion shows.

The guns in general both look, and sound very nice. Many attachments look like a part of the gun, and not just slapped on there for the tacti-cool look.
Adding the cash muzzle also works as a silencer, without removing it down to zero noise unrealistically.

An interesting mechanic I normally don't see fleshed out as much as I did in GROSS, was alternative ammo types.
Every weapon had two types of ammo, a round seemingly based on real world equivalents (Hollow Point, Full Metal Jacket, 9mm) and the second usually being a unique super-powerish round:
- Reaper (Insane Headshot Damage, invades weak points.)
- WADCUTTER (Consistent damage at every distance. Will always do 76 dmg (AK value), irregardless of other factors. My personal favourite.
- Vermin (Seems to be a play on buckshot/birdshot, but is possible to be loaded into the Scar for example.)
- Cryo-Rounds (Freeze upon contact, sustains freeze if hit with more bullets.)
- Cluster Bomb (RPG missile that hits, and then explodes again in 16 different places.)

With there being 2 other "ammo" types in the cash muzzle which shoots green tracers that pick up cash on the ground you shoot at,
The other being soapy rounds which get rid of the "GROSS"-ness the big zombies puke onto your defenses.

When making a class/loadout, you can take any amount of any weapon. You want 4 Rifles? how about 4 SMG's? maybe 4 pistols? You pick everything you bring, and can only bring so many.
It helped add a sense of strategy to the progressing levels, some tools (soap rounds) being useful on the longer stages, whereas something like the Cash Muzzle + a Sniper could be useful on the level 'Summit'.
It turned what I thought was going to be a tedious grind, into a fun campaign I had to try over a few times due to poor preparation.

Now, I only discovered alternative ammo types about 10 hours into the game. I'm pretty certain I was paying attention, and also played the tutorial, so maybe the ability to use Alternative Ammo Types should be made more apparent?

The Tower Defence aspect of this game I found to not be particularly as important as you the Player being vigilant in picking up Cash drops, and killing incognito zombies who can avoid said defences.
Some may view this as a downside, but the way I see it, isn't this what you paid for?
A mix between FPS and Tower Defense.

I think it works very well. You have to thoroughly plan out your defences as there is no "reset" option you can click between waves if you want to re-organize your defences. You are also an active part of the "Defence" aspect of Tower Defence.

Ensuring you get all of the money can be unbalanced at times, like on the map "Deer!" where you are placed on a stretch of road in-between two tall forests. It becomes nigh-impossible to shoot down the Tax Drones if they do get your hard earned dollars because they always run into the trees. If playing the campaign also, you'll have no form of 1 shotting these drones (with the RPG or Dragonouv) making it that much harder since you'll be required to beam the drones out of the sky while they dip and dash between trees.

But, the drones are stupid. We are smarter. So, near the end of the round, the last zombie will always drop cash. Simply let the drones come on over, and start shooting them down. The drones have little self-preservation when picking up money, only attempting to ascend higher. Doing it at the end of the round saves you from the police drone too, but if you have 4-5 Stars, it will return start of next wave.

I read some other reviews and feel the complaints about the drones are unfounded given how many methods of dealing with them you have.

On maps like Cargo, and Camp, Mortars on there lonesome take care of drones, so you'll just need to have ATM's. Getting cash increases your score, so you'll need plenty of ATM's.

I think most complaints about things like Cash collection boil down not to the cash collection being an issue, but the games way of presenting information.

The story and worldbuilding was great. I hated visualising a drugged up horse birthing foals for humans to "harvest for mass". But, where we had paragraph on paragraph of world building, we had maybe 4-5 sentences on how to play. Tutorial and instructions were lacking for almost everything that isn't intuitive (like shooting a gun).

It took me a few levels to realize the importance of ATM's.

The lack of instructions/tutorials was only a minor negative, in an otherwise phenomenal solo project.
