Mining - Mining Guild Frustration

[Violation]

1. Went to Mining Guild and Joined.
2. Went to asteroid Field: hit tab to pull out mining laser once on a asteroid to use it.
3. If mining laser doesn't seem to work release from asteroid using G then reattach, this usually fixes mining laser not working right or properly.
4. Turn the efficiency all the way to 99% power down to zero.
tried multiple asteroids til I find one with a lot of gold.
5. I have roughly 150 gold ore and like 27 coal.
6. Mining Guild bar still has no bar gain for guild XP.
7. 4 hours later on a really good gold asteroid I can finally see only a slight sliver of a blue bar on Mining Guild XP.

what the hell am I doing wrong, I can not figure out what is going on, I can't gain XP with a handheld mining laser.

Can someone suggest a planet with a cave for me to go surface mine at. At this rate I will never be able to buy or unlock a mining Ship.

2 Days now trying to figure this out any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat as you regarding not gaining xp in mining but you can buy a mining ship at guild rank 1. One of the mining guild shop terminals in the mining guild station is a ship selling terminal. You can buy the ship but the equipment to put on the mining drone is sold seperately on a nearby terminal. I did freelance missions to get the money for it.

any on surface or at pits/lairs, youll have to skim along the surface to find the rocks, and also a chance to see the explorer relics.

nope those dont give xp for shiz , i mined 80 gold and around 100 coal absolutely no movement on xp bar

Hi,
I have the same issue, but I found rare ores in a pit(be careful, as it works as a dungeon, and at the end, you can have some "problems" if you go too far in depth(floors).
But the rares ores I got gave me a very little XP mining, and gave me around 500k money(ores that sell at around 2k each).
It's the only way I found to XP for now, but I guess that if you buy a mining ship with equipment, it goes way faster.
Try to buy a more efficient hand mining tools too(I don't know if it exists, atleast not at mining guild station).

There are better handheld mining tools out there, but they are still slow and only unlock at the next two levels. The fastest path is to make money to buy a tier one mining ship and equip it to mine minerals at a higher rate. yeah I watched that video first before joining the mining guild, sadly it just doesn't work for me like it does in his video, just can't get the mining skill to raise.

I am gaining xp for mining guild. Had to buy a miner ship from them. using the misactor (manned mining drone) I am able to mine asteroids and when selling the ore, I get a small amount of xp. the only issue I have so far, is that the popup for an asteroid is stuck on my window now and I can't figure out how to remove it. Maybe swapping back to my combat ship will do this.

you should record to a different hard drive, and turn off everything in the motion blur column.

Going to try mining again today after patch. New game and went to do a ton of freelancer / merc missions before hand I am in a carrier with the mining drone. Any recommendations for what ores give more xp?

So I can Make Xp for selling ores also?

Because Ive been at it like 2 hrs or so now and wrist is bothering me, but I have 3 stacks of ore gold atm

also worth noting the xp gains are still garbage even using the mining drone what ever the hell it's called

managed to mine a bit.. but wow.. even a full hold of gold only moved XP bar like 1 or 2% based off how it looks.

i get its "freemoney" but the station tax/guild tax would seem enough compensation.. i don't want to spent 50-100 trips mining, selling just to lvl up..
i'm already lvl 7+ pilot.. just getting to where i got my 'fathers ship'

seemed a waste of time when the payout is so low (highly taxed)
