How does this make EP not canon? *spoilers*
I finished the game, and I can't really see how this interferes in EP's storyline. There was no mention of the first team except a brief message at the start. The whole place is a wreck like EP, pointman in EP was just trying to get out of there. But beckets team got pointed in different directions. Why does this interfere with EP's canon I didn't see fettel anywhere . How are the clones being controlled I thought that was fettels job not alma . I happen to like EP a lot, and I kinda wanna still think its canon loved the finale to EP as well. Alma was in EP a bit but couldn't that be just considered catching up with her son so to speak? She didn't do much cept kill all pointmans friends.

Also fettel died in 1 so how are the replicas being controlled, who's giving the orders? If he wasn't reborn as a spirit like alma how are the replicas even still working? Maybe its 3 that ruins the canon but this one really doesn't seem to conflict with EP to me. Any further insight into this would be appreciated cause I'm confused.

It's nothing to do with the storyline that makes it non-canon, it's just the fact that it was made by a different developer than the original game. Take Star Trek for example, there are many novels and works of fan fiction that are not related to any of the ships or characters in the franchise, but because they are not made by Paramount/CBS, they are considered non-canon.

Ok so technically they aren't connected officially, but FEAR2 is still using many of the events from 1 so why should we think that it cut off at 1?

I mean 2 was ok it had a lot of good scripted segments and some great mechs. But I still kinda think EP made a better sequel.

It's only Extraction Point and I think Perseus Mandate that are non-canon. The original developers were back onboard for Fear 2 and 3. There were rights issues at the time of Fear 2's development, publishers Sierra owned the rights to the FEAR name, while developer Monolith owned the characters and story, so during development a public campaign was held to choose the name, which ended up being just "Project Origin", with no "FEAR" branding, and FEAR is not mentioned in any of the game dialogue. Just before release, Activision had acquired Sierra and sold the name rights back, so they were able to quickly rework the artwork and loading screen to include the FEAR branding.
This is what I can remember of the timeline of events, apologies if I got any of it wrong but that was more or less how it all happened.

No problem, and thanks for the information. Its a great game series and I really like the storyline, I can't wait to play FEAR3 even though people say its bad I'm kind of skeptical of that I've seen some bad games.

It kind of sucks that EP wasn't canon cause I liked how it went, but I guess FEAR3 probably brings back some of the people in EP who died. Perseus also seems to of happened at or around the same time the first game got rolling so I guess with enough stretching of the imagination you could consider all events happening within fear1/2.
EP continues from where fear 1 ends. these 2 games are the only fear games that tell the fear story of fettel and pointman. pointman gets rescued by the helecopter at the end of fear1, which gets brought down by alma at the beginning of EP and continues the story of pointman. at the end of EP, both fettel and pointman die and basically ends the story of pointman and fettel, and the storyline of fear. fear 2 ha ppens at the same time as EP, so it belongs in the same canon. but fear3 obliterates (and basically ruins) the story of fettel and pointman, and has nothing to do with fear1, EP, or fear2.

But how did fettel and pm die at the end of EP? I saw a helicopter explode but I saw no confirmation that either one was dead. Fettel died in the first game, but he came back in eps church. Hell he came back in 2, 3 and Persius.

Btw I made this thread a while back when I didn't have a full grasp on the storyline. But now that I know where they all fit I still prefer EP's direction. I don't believe PM died at the end of EP and they were setting up for some epic stuff. I saw it as fettel spiritually was going to become kind of like alma except without tk and more on the lines of directing an endless army of replicas to try and conquer the nation. I know the wiki says there were a limited amount of replicas. But I'm not convinced the replica program was just isolated to that one area and fettel seemed pretty damn sure of himself and his army causing chaos at the end of ep.

I just don't see how they died at the end of ep, pm from his perspective actually looks to get up so he can peer out at the carnage. The viewpoint looking out is of an elevated position as if the credits are PM slowly recovering while watching the city in flames.

EP was badass as hell and should of been the real follow up to fear. And I don't get the fans who were so upset about jin that they actually retconned that... Its a horror shooter. The game is suppose to be about alma, fettel, the fear team, and point man. All the unrelated odd directions they went in with becket and almas weird romance was not very interesting.
