Not sure on armor, still using the Wanderer Suit. Did find a really good Exoskeleton suit but keeping it in stash until I can fully upgrade it.
It's a revolver that uses 9x39 ammo, very powerful. Very nice upgrades too, can be upgraded with a rail that takes a scope.
For the other half a VSS Vintorez with 20 round mag attach and a GP37 with the Corundum suit. When you fully upgrade the corundum you can get 2 rad free artifact slots and another 3 normal slots that's really useful to have if you know how to uitilize the artifacts. The VSS is a real good mix between long ranged combat and fighting against mutants.
I have a lot of gear (as many do I'm sure) and I spend a lot upgrading various suits and weapons. I like to use them all as much as I can so I mix it up just about every time I head out. Tourist one time, Seva-I next, Falcon the next and so on it goes.
Main gear for missions and if heavy anomalous activity is expected
PSZ-9I Falcon
Dnipro
Saiga
Skif's pistol
Liquid Rock / Compass / Petal / Urchin / Flytrap
Kharod
Saiga D-12 (Faster reload than Ram-2)
Skif's Pistol (for fighting Burers)
EDIT: After having tried Dnipro it's safe to say that Kharod is much better.
Kharod has less recoil, longer range, can use RNBW scope and an underbarrel.
The only trade off is a small little tiny bit lower damage than the Dnipro which is almost 0 difference.
Kharod, feel like it has way better accuracy over Dnipro
Saiga-12 (the unique Ultimate Edition one) because of the faster reload
Rhino (once again the unique UE one)
#1 Compass, #2 Thunderberry #3 Hypercube #4 Weird Ball #5 whatever
Your weapon of choice will be a fully upped "Glutton" RPM-74 Light machine gun with a 500 round box. In this configuration, you will pretty much trivialize all and everything Stalker 2 has to offer, while pumping 7.62x39 mm rounds into everything that moves, untill it doesn't.
Have fun, because you will!! \0/
but I strongly suggest to have fast shooting shotgun - SPSA-14/Sledgehammer, SPAS-12, Ram-2 - it is a best weapon against any mutant, especially on early stages. SPSA-14 may be found dropped from NPC quite early.
Assault rifles are all +- the same in terms of achieving desired outcome.
Everything depends on your mission: If you are going just to go to collect some remote stashes - then you need to suggest gun weight and ammo weight. E.g. 0.45" Round is twice heavier then 9x19 round for similar weapon class. But if you are up to mission against humans - you need a guns with high penetration, etc.
Also they all have a different wearing rate, so again the gun you are using the most time - should be reliable and cheap to repair.
There is one mission where GLUTTON machine-gun with 500 round magazine appeared to be the best choice. But you'll never going to go to explore zone with RPK-74.
There are special weapon for every caliber, you may find them in different stashes.
And then you would stop pumping anything other than your fist as you run out of ammo and realize 7.62x39mm is not sold by any vendor in the game.
Best armor would be any of the advanced exo-suits, I found Diamond exoskeleton first so I used it. Any other advanced suite would be equally good with minor differences here and there.
I like Dnipro chambered in 5.45x39mm for general gameplay, exploring and fooling around. I also have another Dnipro chambered in 7.62x39 when I feel like it and for final missions. I have nearly 3000 ammo fo that type so even if I blow few hundreds here and there, I will have enough for the main mission finale.
2nd primary is reserved for Saiga-12D, hands down best shotgun currently in the game. Fully upgraded bar the pads, it is a beast with fast reload and best burst in the game.
Saiga D-12 shotgun.
Diamond exoskeleton.
Artifacts as per user preference.
Second place is Saiga D12 - Imho best shotgun.
Third place is Skif pistol - cheap, plain, accurate, best for small targets and close combat headshots.
