I think pre-load will be available before 24 hrs to release - just protection from pirates, who decides to upload game on torrent

Try protecting from pirats or dataminers. Or maybe no pre-load for PC users. Wait official announce from GSC personal in nex 5-6 days.

Last time I pre-loaded something on Steam: never

Pre-downloading is always done 24/48 hours before the launch date.

However, I wonder, is it really worth it to pre-download a game? Do we really save time?

If you have a quick enough connection it will be much faster to just download it on the day

Well i can understand for people who have a very slow internet speeds and really want to play on the launch day. But for the rest of us, it will anyway be pretty quick download. Just enough time to make a sandwich and a cup of tea :3

Pre load is on xbox right now but not on steam. I guess they don't care too much about their pc users.

Jedi Survivor (127GB download I think?) took ~6 hours to pre-load on my connection but only 13 minutes to decrypt on the release date so time can be saved depending on such factors. I suppose in the grand scheme of things several hours isn't long to wait though.

Typically it falls in one of two categories. A. Steam just doesn't get one. B. We get it within 48 hours of release. It's rare for an option C.

Crackers will go to town on this game once they get their hands on it.
Especially eastern europeans. It is too early for a pre download.

I sure hope they offer a preload! 150GB will take me like 2+ days to download via steam even if it was an old unpopular game, with a few hundred thousand others doing so at the same time as well, it could take even longer! It doesn't matter how much bandwidth I have available(I have to use 4G LTE for my broadband usually like 20-50MB/s DL), I still only get like 1-2MB/s DL on Steam. For example as I write this, StalcraftX is updating and I am only getting 900Kbs "peak" even though a speed test says I have 30MB/s available. I don't care if I still need a day1 patch, at least it won't take that long. Granted, it will prob be a bug fest for the first week or so, so it may not be a bad idea to wait before playing, but I have been waiting for like 15 years already. With my luck, it will take 3 days to install, then I will sit down to play finally and get a 10GB patch making me wait another day. I am really sick of companies just assuming we all have fiber, when we can't even get cable less than 4 miles from a University Town in the States. Before any muskrats say "use Starlink!", I will preface with, "F scheme-lon musk! I will never give him a penny!"...plus StarLink SUCKS! I have neighbors that use it and it is way worse than my 4G setup.....when it is actually connected. it goes out a LOT, even worse than Satellite TV. In order for it to be anywhere close to functional, it need FORTY TWO THOUSAND satellites! They are nowhere close to having that many up either. They also have a 3% failure rating and all of them need replaced every <5 years. They also do not fall on their own and burn up as he said they will, so pretty soon low earth orbit will be unpassable for anything as bits of starlink satellites make a field of debris traveling a few thousand KPH! Ok, thats my cue to stop as I am getting tangetey. COME ON @STEAM LET US PRE-LOAD!!!!

lol I read this as "crackers" aka white people, at first. Good Point though. I imagine they could pre-load a bunch of it without including the data needed to figure that out, though. Maybe just the bulk of the data, but not the full suite.

PRE-LOAD most likely to start 48 hours before the launch date,so november 18!

In your defense you were not entirely wrong.
