Quest rewards are a joke, whoever balanced economy is delusional
Have an example:
A quest - kill a pack of flesh.
Killing one flesh takes around 3-4 shots of 12/70 from toz on veteran difficulty.
Around 5-6 spawn in that pack.

If you kill all of them, without missing a shot, and without getting hit a single time (so you are not wasting heals), you will have to waste 15/20-18/24 shells.

Quest rewards you 700 kupons.

10 shells of 12/70 costs...1020 kupons.

You have basically wasted your time, ammo and money on doing a quest that can offer you only monetary reward (there is no xp, nor any loot, since skinning mutants is not possible).
And you are now roughly 700-1600 kupons negative (if you have not used any heals and if we do not take in consideration repairs cost).

Let's have another example.

Recover an artefact quest.
Artefact price: 15000 kupons
Artefact name "Soul"

Warden offers to pay you "much more than any trader" for that specific artefact, because he thinks it contains soul of his comrade.

Scientist also wants this unique version of soul in order to check in the lab if has human DNA in it.

Rewards:
Giving to scientist, who is "offering to pay more than warden will pay you" - 3200 kupons

Giving it to warden, who is willing to "pay more than any trader would" - 3500 kupons

Reminder - this artefact costs 15000 kupons.

Walking to the nearest trader, who is like 100 meters away from them - he will buy it off you in an instant for 5200 kupons, lol.

Where is logic behind this whole quest? What is the point of all this text and morality and bargaining if you can literally get more money by selling it to a random ass trader.

What a waste of time and narrative.

And this is with EVERY SINGLE QUEST.

Recover collar from a deadly anomaly + kill a pack of dogs to recover a collar + kill a bloodsucker while random anomalies spawn around you - all of this in different locations.

What do you think will you get as a reward? 1000 kupons!
1000!!! Not even enough to cover for 1/5 of ammo required to kill that bloodsucker.

Yeah it's ridiculous, 4500 to repair my AK, when you are getting 500+ for jobs. It would help if you could loot mutants for parts/trophies.

If only they had amazon prime in the zone, they would have plenty of options for better rewards.

Within just 15+ hours in the game I've made over 100k with side quests..... ITS TOO EASY.

Put the work in. The rewards work out. The lesser zone pays less, and you're often made fun of being a "rookie" as they all call it, it fits into the game if you pay attention how you're treated in quests and the set ups people put you on to lol

Is it even worth playing and getting into right now or wait for patch?

Almost as if money/ammo management is a thing.

Uh yeah.. I do.. get good. lmao I've spent it all upgrading gear and several guns I've found off zombies. I'm back down to 28k after all that.

You are not a real stalker, comrade. Be like me. Run away from everything dangerous, especially from a group of bloodsuckers, to the nearest place of help. A bloodsucker or a group of bloodsuckers kill everyone, you loot them, sit them out on a high object (tower/car/ruins), and then run away and sell all your new loot. Also, don't forget to take out the ammo before selling.

Do the quests pay better once you leave the stater area?
UnknownMaster21 Nov 23, 2024 @ 12:53pm
I am not even bothering doing those quests. Waste of time due there are much better options... such as adventuring.

Yes they do! I went further into harder territory. Found tons of high end loot I've sold too, suits etc.

In my experience the actual quests themselves are rarely ever better than the example provided by OP. So, OP is correct. That said, Father Lamb is correct in that the economy is too easy. If you focus on just random places you can make an insane amount selling half damaged guns and armor to traders. In the Lesser Zone just looting the Sphere base outside of the main mission quest I made 44,000 selling suits and guns to Hamster. The game is broken in two different ways.

Yep! I've found so many side quests that amounted to good cash with stashes, given stashes I'd get loot even suits and armors i didnt need, guns too, SOLD! Quick cash.

Go to files and go down to Grok's quest pay mod.

Buffs weapon damage across the board for better penetration thus making enemies/mutants easier to kill
