They give you powers or something. I have two slots but am not using any rn. Doing good though because I snatched up some really strong armor and fully kitted out a gun. I guess there's no leveling up in this game so it's all about your gear.

Artifacts are Trade-Off, usually having something for Radiation Poisoning...

I suggest to have something which you can remove radiation and go with endurance effects.

You get stalker suits or suit upgrades that counteract the radiation, or have suits with multiple artifact slots so you can mix and match so they counteract each other.

Imo it's a bit of a useless mechanic early game; I sold all artifacts but am now simply stashing them for (hopefully) future utility.

They're useless early game.

When you'll get enough money to upgrade you armor or to buy the gas mask you'll be able to equip some artifact and resist radiation they give to you.

Most of the early artifact are usefull in contextual situation but at mid or end-game they can help you a lot.

I'm almost 20 hours in and I've sold every artifact I've found after clearing 5 zones so far. Artifacts are trash and anomalies are just a gimmick to waste your time, so don't worry about them. If anything is gonna kill you in the zone, it's some random dude in a gunfight who has a line of sight on you in the pitch black darkness that takes 3-4 headshots even on normal difficulty and keeps shooting you, lol.

EDITED as of 12/1/2024:

You can come in and give me a clown emoji all you want. You still don't need artifacts in this game, lol. I'm over 50 hours in and still haven't had a need for one and I only have 3 more zones left to clear.

It's just a numbers game. Sure it feels rough in the beginning when you don't have any gear, cause you can die to like 3-4 random goons if you don't play it safe. Once you actually get a decent set of gear though, nothing kills you any more. Hell, 98% of my deaths have been environmental deaths due to instant radiation (you know the bridge I'm talking about, lol) killing you or falling off a ledge that was higher than 5 feet (because Skif would rather die than twist his ankle and patch himself up).

That's the only real major gripe I have with the game. Skif is built like a damn twig. Bro jumps exactly 7.2 feet and suddenly all your health is gone, then he crumples over and dies. You reach a little pond where you have to wade through water that's 2 feet deep? WHOA NOW! WE CAN'T DO THAT! YOU'LL HAVE TO GO AROUND!

Thanks, bro. Very cool.

There are artifacts, even in early game, that remove radiation. Upgrade your suit slots and you can put one that removes radiation and another 1-2 that give you straight benefits. I always carry physical defense + anti-rad, essential for early game imo, since early suits don't have any noticeable protection from either

I found a artifact called liquid rock, max chem protection max rad protection no negative. had it on me the whole game now and i can ignore most radiation and areas with the green anomalies. just walk right through it. even have some higher rad artifacts too which do nothing

if i build up some rads from a especially strong area i just sit in a low/no rad area for a minute and its all gone

where did you get that, i want that lol
If you dig around in chemical pools you can find artifacts that give radiation protection.

It's random what artifact spawns, but it spawns in chemical/acid anomalies.

honestly i don't remember but it was fairly early

heres a screen grab of its description

I picked up two items that significantly increase resistance and don't have any radiation debuff
its honestly removed a bunch of the challenge when you can just walk through radiation with no fear xD

It exsisted in the old games too, in the tutorial you get an artifact that removes radiation, you have to use it togheter with other artifacts.
Jäveln Nov 23, 2024 @ 6:25am
is there any artifacts in this game that works against radiation? previous game all had those but out of 20 ive found none seem to help with radiation making them mostly useless unless you need a small temporary boost

beside the wizard ball which is okay
