Really ?

Stalker in my book. Metro is great but the first two games were very linear and repetitive. Also keep in mind, Stalker has a dynamic open world where Metro is a lot of scripted events.

Biggest problem with Metro Exodus was only 1 of the 2 open areas(bulk of the game) had anything resembling an anomaly. And it was exactly 1 in the electric ball. They expanded the scope of Metro but didn't fill the world with anything otherworldy or interesting like Stalker does despite the lore supporting it.

16 hours into Stalker 2 and encountered 10 totally unique types of anomalies. Exploration just feels a world apart without even getting into the world design of structures, underground cave systems, platforming, and so on.

This is a super rich and interesting map to explore, maybe one of the best I've seen in a game

I gotta vote for Exodus, as long as that invincible bug is gone. Im honestly thinking about reinstalling the enhanced edition and playing that while waiting for GSC to fix this game.

I installed Enhanced last week now that i have a machine capable of maxing it out and its unbelievably stunning.

Still enjoying this but both are very different games and right now Exodus is leagues better and way more polished.

Metro is too much railroad gameplay. It's good, but not stalker. Metro is and always has been and probably always will be a smaller, more story based stalker alternative. That's not a bad thing, but it's definitely not stalker. Stalker just has so much to it that Metro can't even compete with honestly. Of course that's just my opinion, but I would even say at an objective level it does because of the sheer scale alone. It's basically like the arma of survival horror games. Especially given how mod friendly it is

metro due to stalker 2 needing a year or two of making it an actual completed game. I enjoyed metro but it is an on rails game, only a couple maps allow for some exploration. But stalker 2 is honestly a disappointment in its current state.

He's not mad, he's right.
METRO games and STALKER have as much in common as Apples and Oranges, those two are both fruit and former two are both first person shooters.

METRO is linear and had a corny storyline but tight shooting mechanics.

STALKER is non linear and has an almost corny storyline and has RPG mechanics/freeroam

Exodus is the most similar to STALKER games ( original ones) and is far better made. I like STALKER to the bone but facts are facts, Exodus won't crash, will look good and will play good.

Yeah, Metro was inspired by STALKER, and made by some of STALKER's former devs. They took some of it's ideas, but made into a linear, rail shooter, that I find extremely boring.

Metro series was also known for a fair share of issues on launch, and also with the AI.

STALKER 2 needs some polish, sure.

But this person is acting like a child.

Oh yeah back in the day at launch Metro was a mess. Especially Metro 1.
Also the Ai is still fairly poor

The first two are akin to modern Wolfenstein games, they weren't all that bad though, pretty solid for a play through or two, Exodus I'm not entirely sure why is regarded as the worst, perhaps it's a story thing but I haven't been paying too much attention to it to be honest.

Another game that might fit the bill as far as open world RPGs go is Atomic Heart, now that one was really solid. ♥♥♥♥ I liked it more than Exodus. There's plenty to play while STALKER 2 actually releases feature complete.

the reason why i bought stalker is metro. i really like the metro series, especially exodus, so i thought i’m gonna enjoy stalker, but for now stalker has doze of bugs and literally no optimization so i would rather go for metro

Depends what you're in the mood for. If you want a fairly linear story based experience moving through a series of smaller explorable maps, with lots of cutscenes and story content, then Metro is your game. If you want to be a hobo with no friends set loose in a hostile randomized open world then STALKER2 is for you.

Both games are great for different reasons, get them both if you can.

Metro's story wise more narrow does not give much freedom and its semi open world.
Stalker is scary and survival oriented game map is huge and lets you be who you want to be.

Metro Trilogy if you like a better story.
Albert Speer Nov 22, 2024 @ 8:37pm
Both game are great and similar since METRO is made by STALKER developers that left GSC studio
