The original stalker games bug ridden as they were, were masterpieces of design.
gamma was a let down
anomaly offers all of the maps combined different mods, warfare and story combined in some cases. The faction have weight i can go on.
im just happy to see stalker 2 out tbh im sure theyl add a lot more features and mod support
in 2 hours of anomonly i'd be dead and scum saving lol. So i get it that they made it more friendly. But it kinda undermines the whole thing to a degree, and it lacks some mechanics
the original games actually had game design to them instead of being the work of hundreds of different modders with entirely different visions for what they wanted their anomaly experience to me bunched together into an abomination, and the tourists who started playing gamma before any other stalker game because they watched one operator drewski video completely flooded the stalker community and turn their game into the same gmod realism garbage brainrot that was flooding youtube years ago, overall the worst thing that may have happened to the stalker community like when a really niche song you loved goes mainstream on tiktok
Not sure where you're taking the 'dumbed down' from? Vanilla SoC and CoP aren't any more complex or demanding than Stalker 2.
Maybe you should reinstall SoC, just to compare and contrast. You might be surprised how basic it was. All the gameplay mechanics people seem to associate nowadays with Stalker came from Misery, Lost Alpha, Anomaly, Gamma, etc. and while good in their own right, they sometimes felt overly bloated with items and mechanics.
Have you played yet? Thoughts? I agree with your line of thinking. This is a nice change of pace so far. Especially HUD off.
This game might be good in 10-15 years time once modded, but until then you're better off playing games like modded fika tarkov (no not live its trash) you have mods like SAIN, realism, swag donuts, visceral dismemberment, SVM, path of tarkov (basically turns tarkov into an open world where you can't just magically spawn into a map, you have to run to each stash and trader to unlock them, a must have mod).
